View Full Version : suzuki's have 7 year warrenty? Mr. Sandman 07-30-2003, 01:17 PM A buddy of mine traded in his yamaha for a new suzuki and claims it came with a 7 year warrenty, and that is the sole reason he bought it....is this for real? missing link 07-30-2003, 01:58 PM all i see is 3......http://www.suzukimarine.com/showsanddeals/reloaded/g6_reloaded.php B-assman 07-30-2003, 01:58 PM It's 6 Years - 3 yr warranty plus 3 yr extended warranty for free. They're great engines! I have a 140 and it's amazingly quiet, fuel efficient and powerful. I've put on 105hrs since I launched her this spring - not a hiccup so far. Lots of guys on thehulltruth.com discuss the engines - pretty much all positive reviews. Here's the link - http://www.suzukimarine.com/showsanddeals/reloaded/g6_reloaded.php Mr. Sandman 07-30-2003, 02:40 PM He got a 225 two stroke for a great price and a 7 year warrenty he claims. I was on his boat yesterday and it is quite at idle but the same as any other at cruise. Also, I didn't think it ran real smooth at slow idle. But a 7 year deal...that has my interest peaked...as he said...in 7 years I will throw it away and get a new one! Is anyone else even comming close to that kind of warrenty? JohnR 07-30-2003, 09:26 PM I think that's it... I'll give ya 750 each for those dirty rudes on yours :) 179 07-31-2003, 06:33 AM He must be mistaken, the warranty package Suzuki is offering now is a 6-year deal. The first 3 is standard, the second 3 is the extended warranty. I had heard Suzuki was elimating their entire lineup of 2-strokes and going strictly 4-strokes from here on out. Maybe they are offering a special deal of 7-yrs to move the 2-strokes out? I can't comment on the 2-strokes, but the new DF-140 is probably the most trouble free motor introduced recently, I see very few problems listed at all......I'm approaching 300hrs on mine with no problems at all...runs like new. The all new 200, 225, and 250 4-strokes will be out soon.....:) Mr. Sandman 07-31-2003, 06:56 AM He may only have six or gotton some special deal on his two stroke...he said he could not pass it up and it was a no brainer given the cheaper price and the extended warenty... Still 6 years...in 6 years you will want a new motor anyway! John, IMO thats about what they are really worth! Actually, they run OK. Have had some pricy electrical issues with one of them and they both leak some semi-spent oil when you tilt them up which is a little messy...But it has not stopped me from using them all season. I've run them pretty hard. I have owned a johnson/evinrude engine since I was 12 and by dad before that going back to the early 50's and I have to say, I don't see me buying another. The problem is company support. When they "no longer make and can't get" a new part for a 3 yo motor there is a problem there. EMM (the computer) can not be replaced, it can only be re-built by a 3rd party company. As I understand it, when Bomberdier bought OMC, the guys in the EMM group spun themselves off and became their own company called DFI. If you have a problem with an EMM you deal with them... Bomberdier actually has their phone number for this thing in their parts list. Further the OMC dealers are getting fed up with the whole operation. It looks like the end of the road for them someday if they keep this up. Seems impossible given their world domination of the market years ago. I prefer to buy american...I hate to buy Jap but 6 year warrenty with a competitive price...that is all I really need on an ob. JohnR 07-31-2003, 11:46 AM So you'll take the 750 each? :D Cool, thanks man :D Suzi has a V6 200-250HP 4 stroke coming out in a couple months :D Bob Senior 08-10-2003, 04:06 PM I have the 115 hp equivalent of 179's with about 150 hrs., and so far it's fantastic. This really happened last night at the Great Island Bridge: Three young guys just retrieved their boat and walked down to talk with me as I was tied up to the pier squaring away the boat to pull out. (The Suzi's cooling "squirt" is aimed to shoot up in the air so I can see it.) After talking with them for a couple of minutes one of them said, "How come your engine is still squirting water in the air after you shut it off????"----honest! Well, it was still running. I'm sure any other 4-stroke is just as quiet, but this thing is QUI-ET. Oh, and I got 6 years of warranty; 3-year mfr warranty with 3-year extended--had 7 years been an option I would have got it. In 6 years I plan to be in a mid-20s SeaCraft or Parker with HUGE Suzis on it anyway, although I do love my little Quinnie. vBulletin® v3.8.7, Copyright ©2000-2025, vBulletin Solutions, Inc.
