View Full Version : Let's Get a Raffle Going for TFCTFN
RickBomba 03-12-2016, 05:59 PM Hi Guys,
I have three plugs, one t-shirt, and an XXL Aquaskins top that I'd like to donate to the raffle to keep the lights on.
Can someone step up, collect the goods (who should we ship it to), and then figure out how we can get some funds together for John to keep the lights on?
Can someone make this sticky?
I'm not going in for surgery for another week, so I'd be happy to keep tabs on the donations. My stuff is boxed up and ready to ship.
Thanks,
Rick
BigFish 03-12-2016, 07:25 PM Rick have everyone who is donating post their items as an auction and they can handle the shipping themselves and have the proceeds sent directly to John!
macojoe 03-12-2016, 07:42 PM When & Were is it going to be? I have not been keeping up with all thats going on, but woukld like to go if I can?
Thanks
RickBomba 03-12-2016, 07:49 PM So, Larry's got more of an auction vibe. I always loved the raffle, but it may not be feasible.
Anybody have any other thoughts on the process?
LMK,
Rick
afterhours 03-13-2016, 07:20 AM methinks auction may bring more $ and easier if run like the large fish said.
RickBomba 03-13-2016, 02:07 PM Anybody else want to chime in? I think I am in agreement. You can set the opening bid and then ship as you like.
I'd like to start maybe tonight or tomorrow, so I can get most of my stuff listed.
I say we set a 24 hour clock on the bids.
Anyone else have some ideas about the setup?
All funds raised will go directly to John.
Thanks,
Rick
Guppy 03-13-2016, 03:22 PM Thinking out loud here
Is it a big deal to add another forum to the site....
" TFCTFN Auction forum "
Or sticky a thread, each person keeps track of the bids for the item they list and send the dough to JR when the deal is complete. How about setting a date for all auctions to end? Could be a stampede on the last day,,, :spin::spin: could be fun
RickBomba 03-13-2016, 05:14 PM Yeah,
I like the idea of the other forum, if John can set it up. That way each thread can have it's own parameters.
People could say what time the auction ended on each item.
I say you set a starting price (low for things like my t-shirt) and higher for high ticket items (like a fishing rod, or something).
John, what do you think about that?
And then ending price would not include shipping...you'd need to work that out with the winner and lister.
Just my two cents.
Thanks,
Rick
Linesider82 03-13-2016, 05:22 PM Do it like the Macojoe auction, the donating party or host of the donated item started an individual thread with their own auction title. When time expired the OP of the thread handled getting payment and was resposible for shipping the item.

Rappin Mikey 03-13-2016, 08:33 PM I got some stuff my wife wants me to get out of the cellar. Some chit so old, I don't even know what it is.
JohnR 03-13-2016, 08:50 PM Awww shucks
Thanks guys ;)
RickBomba 03-14-2016, 06:59 AM John,
Can you make this a forum instead of a sticky thread. That way we could keep track of each item that is being bid on through its own separate thread?
The seller could manage the end time (they should set it themselves), and set a minimum selling price.
LMK,
Thanks,
Rick

piemma 03-14-2016, 09:03 AM I got to sit on the side for this one guys. I'm just buried with my wife's illness, house, dog, part time consulting, etc. I'd love to help but I know my bandwidth is nil.
RickBomba 03-14-2016, 11:08 AM I think we are going to end up either having a thread for each item, or you could list all of the chit that you have in on thread. If you did it this way, you could manage all of your own bids and also the finish time.]
Thoughts?
Guppy 03-14-2016, 04:22 PM I say one thread and why not this one...
The first guy to put up something give the post a title,,, "auction #1" and so on... When someone bids on an auction reply to that post and title it with the auction # or the latest bid post for that auction... Is that not how Joe's went?
Rick, if u like this through sumpton up for auction, call out min. Price and end date,,, yes?
After u recover u can look back here and see how screwed up things got... LOL

I still have a week. I'll post some stuff tonite. I like the idea of giving the post a number. I think that when people want to bid, they do a quote on the post, and that way the bidders and sellers can keep track of all of the back and forth.
And I think it would be way more fun for me to watch what goes on while I'm on the goofballs, looking at my bed and watching the Ipad.
Maybe I can link my 60" tv in the bedroom to the network and push the output from my desktop to the TV, so I can see it really big!
I have a mechanical keyboard on the desktop, so I'd have to get a wireless one to reply.
Slipknot 03-15-2016, 10:06 AM I think a separate thread for each person donating stuff would be best. And the titles should begin with the same thing like S-B.com auction or something then your item description.
If everything is in this thread, I feel it will be too confusing and won't get as much interest because of having to scroll thru it for certain items.
chefchris401 03-15-2016, 02:09 PM I'm starting 4 auctions today :)
John what's the email for payment??

More better, that jump started it! :-)
afterhours 03-16-2016, 07:44 AM to avoid a flustercuck i'm going to wait a week before my auctions. maybe we should only have say 10 at a time instead of like 20 or 30?
Got Stripers 03-27-2016, 09:18 AM John do you have a paypal account people can send payment to?
RickBomba 03-27-2016, 10:13 AM I sent all of my dough ($105) to John before the surgery. Couple of people sent their checks directly to John so he could get the money even quicker.
What a group of class acts! I should have thought of the idea myself.
Thanks for the payments everyone!
Rick
JohnR 04-12-2016, 07:23 AM This has been great and very appreciative!! Than you Rickman for organizing it and thank you everyone for pitching in!!
fishbones 04-12-2016, 11:12 AM JohnR, do you remember which auction I won? I forgot to contact the other member to get the plug and can't find the auction thread for it now.
