What are your go to Spring lures. I have a few the old Yo Zuri crystal minnow magnums, 10" Finess, Pencils, and Magic Swimmers. I am mostly fishing rivers until the end of May.

Fishng mostly rubber now with the occasional bucktail, SP and Magdarter. Later will switch to Pencils, bucktails, magic swimmers, Redfins and in 1 place danny's.

use to be Cocohos first thing in the spring. Then 1/4 to 1/2 oz white bucktails.

Clammer is the pert on early spring schoolies. he should weigh in.

Cocahoes. Single hook with barb crushed. Best lure for catching schoolies and releasing them quickly. Trebles not good for the kids, though all crushed barbs on schhoolie lures ok. Past history has the small smack its right up there. Love the feather tail and the rattle too. Looking forward to crushing barbs on Big Fish Savage Tadpole too. Used it for bss and pickeral last year.

If, however, you really want to tong small fish day or night then a fly rod is the way to go.

Mambo's, spooks, tins, bucktails, generally lighter gear. A lot of fly fishing too

I like to use low impact lures - single hook - for less damage to the schoolies

My own Ledge Runner 4" split tail in smoke with silver glitter or olive with black glitter, when the tog move in the olive crawled over rock with light 3/8 oz kalin jiv head will bag me a limit without the need to have crabs

I will be trying to lure any species that I can to bring me food and sodas while I am recovering in bed all spring...upstairs.

Bucktails is a common thread here. Never used them for the little guys, but will give it a shot in a few weeks.

Have to try that. I would much prefer to skip the crabs.

I hope I don't seem like I am bragging. But I will, my average river fish is 15# in the Spring. I have lost a fish of a life time in the last days of April first days of May to river current and being under gunned. I fish larger profile lures to weed the schoolies out.
