I tried an XL (lightweight style) and it was too tight to wear over any kind of heavy undergarment in the cooler weather. The 2XL was just right. I'm 6'2" but I only take a size 44 jacket.

I tried the lightweight one and liked it but have since gotten the heavyweight model :) . 2XL was tight on the skinny but fits schweet on the thicker model - but keep in mind, like Cartman says, I'm not Fat I'm BIG BONED! :laughs:

I gotta say I'm impressed with it so far :btu: ....

John - how is the heavyweight in the summer? i have been back and forth as to which model to get.

I will have to make a side trip to Newport in the next month...for 240 bucks I better make sure it fits right. Also, it looks like that is quite a shop, has most of my favorite things...can't believe I never stopped by when I lived in RI.

I have been using a "dingy racing jacket" of similar design (about$115) ..has neo cuffs and neck and waist and is light weight and water proof. For the cold heavy surf I have been using the grundens pull over with neo cuffs. I had been happy but both but have been keeping my eyes peeled for a real good top quailty surfasting top. I think this is it.

I noticed they have two styles..a heavy and light. which do you guys like?

I got one. I ended up getting the lighter one. The heavy one is really heavy....seemed more like a full wetsuit to me. The lighter one is quite similar to my dingy jacket with the neo cuffs and neck but the aquaskinz are a bit more suited to surfcasting and once on I had to have it. I hope that fabric is really water proof... I ended up getting the XXL size (jezzz, I am not *that big* 44 jacket as well) which fit but was snug around the neck and wrists. I think I can get use to that.

It's absolutely waterproof. I've ducked under water and only my head gets wet. No cold trickles down the neck, which happened with every other jacket I've ever worn before. And unlike most tops made with breatheable fabric, it'll stay that way unless you tear it on a hook or on rocks.

I think they also have a separate hood available, too. I can deal with my head getting wet by waves or spray, but downpours may be another story ;)

Just to add a little bit more information on the AquaSkinz Tops, yes, the "Evolution" (Light weight) is made of completely waterproof materials and as Mike P said it will stay that way unless you accidentaly rip, tear or puncture it with something. This jacket is cut more true to size so you may have to go up a size if you want to layer. This jacket is ideal from mid-April till about mid-September. Even in the middle of the summer we have worn them with a t-shirt underneath and were very comfortable without sweating to death.

The "Hurricane" is the heavier jacket and is cut more genrously due to the layering factor we ourselves apply during the colder months of the season. It is made of a high grade of neoprene (there are over 50 different grades of neoprene), it will absorb less water, dry quicker and has more strecth value than the lower grade neoprenes. This jacket is ideal for the Fall run as well as late season Tautog, Cod and any other type of cold weather fun. Some guys even use it for hunting.

Both jackets incorporate a double wrist. cuff seal and a neck seal that is very comfortable (for those that have tried any top with the latex gasgets, you know exactly what I mean!)

When these jackets were being designed every consideration was made for comfort, funtionality, quality materials, workmanship and durablity. You must understand, these jackets were designed by the same guys who use them and had "wish" list of features on a ideal top.

You can really utilize the surf and not have worrys of getting wet:D

I wore mine at work the other day in the rain doing some outside work and I stayed dry and not too hot. Then last night I fished in a downpour at the canal and it was at home so I got soaked. J Powers uses his raincoat only to keep his cigarettes dry, he was soaked too.
