View Full Version : Dinged Prop
Rmarsh 06-07-2016, 05:12 AM We were following a twisting narrow channel up river and went a little off course....Is this small dent something I should be concerned about? I could file it smooth, but don't want to upset the balance or just try to straighten it, or I could just leave it alone.
JFigliuolo 06-07-2016, 06:01 AM I'd leave it if you don't see/feel any issues. You can get it repaired in the off season.
nightfighter 06-07-2016, 06:03 AM Crescent wrench to straighten, two hammers to smooth (one behind the spot you are striking to smooth) File to finish
Rockfish9 06-07-2016, 06:49 AM definitely clean that up in the manner Ross suggested.. if you don't...it may lead to enough cavitation to weaken the area ...
Sea Dangles 06-09-2016, 08:04 AM Couple places in New Bedford that repair good as new. Quick turnaround too

saltyric 06-09-2016, 10:25 AM I would have it fixed. Running a engine with a bent blade induces a 'wobble" that can mess up the lower unit seal/bearings........creating a bigger problem down the road.

LoL....yea you did.... but I built the boat to use hard and a few scratches dont concern me.
I will get the prop repaired..... but I may buy a new one and keep the old one as a spare.
Thanks for the suggestions
