I had a student show me some pictures of crabs that he caught while visiting Puerto Rico. They looked exactly like blue crabs, but were WAY WAY bigger than I have ever seen. Anybody got info on these monsters?

His mom works at my school. I will try and remember to have her send me the pic on Monday. With the claws spread in defense position, it must have been at least 2 feet across. One of the bigger ones he showed me was mostly red. I will try and get that one too.

OK got the pics. One of the crabs was almost completely red like it had been steamed? The kid said they got way bigger than that too.

The other pics show the distinctive flipper back legs. Def some kind of relative to our blue claws. The Blue land crabs look more like some kind of muppet fiddler type crab
