View Full Version : Next build - ODM Genesis 10' 1-4oz
Fergal 01-03-2017, 01:47 PM I finished the test casting today. Going to be built with kw torzite 30-25-20-12-8x4-8 tip. Shrink grip with no seat.
One minor issue to potentially deal with for the guide spacing, the current layout puts a guide right under my roof rack. So either the rod travels inside or I need to adjust the spacing.
Fergal 01-14-2017, 04:33 PM some progress
Fergal 01-14-2017, 04:34 PM one more
tysdad115 01-14-2017, 06:29 PM Nice rod. I know a few guys that use them and they're very happy with them.

pbadad 01-16-2017, 06:59 AM Did you correct the spacing? The 2 pictures of the guide weights, what the difference? Extra guide? Are the frames ti or ss ? Wraps look sweet. Inlay on the silver band thread?
Fergal 01-16-2017, 07:20 AM Thanks. I left the spacing as it was - that's what worked. The rod doesn't have a reelseat so I can move the reel a little if I want to try and make it work for the roof rack.
The guides are torzite, weight difference is the before/after of the guide foot prep.
Fergal 01-19-2017, 09:41 PM almost done, a few tags here and there, another coat here and there as well.
Fergal 01-19-2017, 09:42 PM few others

pbadad 01-20-2017, 06:38 AM Sweet wraps. Did u underwrap the silver or put the inner trim band on first?
Fergal 01-20-2017, 07:17 AM Silvers underwrap, nylon on top w/o cp.
Fergal 01-24-2017, 11:24 PM Next up - gsb1321m. Grip tape on. Hopefully get the underwraps on this weekend.

What's with the green (towel?) around the chuck?

Green painters tape around the chuck and the blank. The jaws of the chuck have a tendency to open up.
Guppy 01-25-2017, 07:39 AM They sure do! They're junk!
I didn't recognize the green, I use blue... :-)
Bag ties some times,,,

Yeah, it's fun to come in the next morning to find the chuck spinning with out a rod in it.

Ditto, I been using heavy rubber bands. For HD chuck, it sucks for holding rod. Most of the time I use the wrapper to apply the epoxy then transfer to dedicated slow spiiner.

I have a dryer as well but generally too lazy to move it over.
Tape makes everything better.
