I have heard all the nightmares about the customer service. I am going to build 1 of each and I think the 1pc might stand up a little better. Maybe I should build 2 of each lmao. From 1 stick to 4 now............that's the way of my life..............no complaining just saying, it is what it is.

The 4-8 is a great rod. It has been my go to for the last 3 seasons. The blanks seem hard to find with limited distributors in the US.

I have the CTS VT 3-6 in a 2 piece. I love it. It's my main rod the past 3 or 4 seasons. I have not compared it to the 1 piece blank though
The 4-8 blank does seem very difficult to come by in the states. I would email CTS in New Zealand and see about getting a 2 piece blank shipped. With the exchange rate and shipping, I don't believe you will pay that much more. Ordering from New Zealand likely eliminates the 1 piece option though.

If you are looking at CTS, I would also highly consider Fiber Star Composites. 2 years fishing this rod now and I can't say enough good things about the Marauder 1327 1-5. Beast of a rod that will take a beating, but an absolute joy to throw eels, riggies, and plugs in the 2-3.5oz range as well. You might want to look at the 1329, though, as it can handle more weight.

I haven't heard the horror stories being described about CTS. The people I do know who own them seem happy. On the flip side, I personally don't know anyone who has been disappointed by their FSC either, myself included.

I had the 4-8 was an awesome rod, did everything from redfins to 6oz and chunk.

Broke about 2 months in throwing an ss darter

CS was awful and they need you to ship the rod back to NZ, no US reps/distribution handles warranty claims, which is BS

And they want $60 for a warranty claim
Plus you pay shipping both ways.

Cut my loses and the shop I got from took care of me and I got an ODM jigster

I won't get another cts unless they let the shop/rep handle the claim.

The nightmare customer service saga continues. I will tell ya what, if I break their stick and they mess with me on the warranty the entire united states will know about it. I don't mind paying but I do mind getting the runaround. I was in the early stages of the VS development and they only waivered once on their commitment to customer service. Great company along with lamiglass. Been running the 1321M since it came out. The first serial number I had on my VS300 was in the 5 or 6 hundreds!!

I have a few CTS and a ODM.
I keep going to the ODM, just feels like it's right in my wheelhouse.

That's just it.. The rite tool for the rite job. The CTS will put me in places that my 1321m cannot. If the fish happen to be in closer I will go to my 1321m. That stick can put unbelievable pressure on 40+ pound fish.
