Some of you know this some do not but my grandparents had a few friends who lived on Cuttyhunk in the summers from the early 1950's till the 90's. My grandparents had an old gaff rigged Colin Archer pilot sloop that they kept in Padanaram and would sail over to the hunk for a week or two with my dad and aunts and uncles.
The story my dad loved to tell and I found impossible to believe but have confirm it with my uncle goes like this-
They were sailing back from cuttyhunk one day and ran aground on gull island, which was a small sand bar of an island that aparently used to get bombed along with Noman's island. As the tide went out my dad hopped off the boat and poked around the island and found an un detonated bomb. Most normal humans would leave it, but my dad was not normal. He picked it up and smuggled it on board somehow. Then brought it home.
Then a few days later he devised a way to detonate it in the back yard, which much to his delight sent dirt flying hundreds of feet into the air and left a big crater, which my grandfather could not figure out when he noticed it a few days later.
:hihi:

My grandfather worked at a quarry and my dad somehow obtained blasting caps and a fuse.

Crazy. Just crazy.

you never know when something triggers a memory
so jot them down rather than forgetting even one
and then tell us all
keeping his memory alive
