A cousin from another mother's son's uncle's daughter's sister, ran into an aunt's grandfather, who spoke with his friend's brother's sister-in-law....apparently, there are squid in the bay? Around Prudence is what I was told?
Can anyone confirm?

Seems a couple of few weeks early?
Any evidence on the Causeway?

yeah, I was fumbling to get my phone for a quick pic of a red-tail flying with one in it's talons this afternoon....I quickly decided against that when I saw the pretty police-lady pointing her radar gun my way from the herring-run parking area.

NOPE the squid are not in Newport bay as of yet........ Water was 48 degrees. Maybe in a week or so... Not another boat in sight either.. I did get to test out my new lights and test run the 24v 86# trolling motor pushed me along very good. The outboard ran ok as well. Bilge was dry when I pulled the plugs (maybe 2 cups of water). Was peaceful but there was no sign if squid in the bay.

Back to yard work.... Indeed.

One says Yes

What should I change the Header of this thread to:

1. The difference a day can make

2. Top reason not to chase reports

Another week of decent temps should shake things up...I'll post pix once I get em'

Outvoted LOL... I spent about 3 hours near the bridge in my favorite spot and didn't see any or catch any. Maybe I will have better luck this weekend... or maybe wait another week. Forecast looks kind of iffy this weekend

Historically, at least here in Newport, it would generally start the last week in April then peak sometime in May.

YES, I put in at the ramp at the base marina. And that would be a fun outing. My boat is nearly as old as I am (1968 MFG), but has a large open deck and room for 3 or 4 fishermen. May 6th should be a good night for squid.
