We had three right whales cruising around just a couple hundred yards off white horse beach in Plymouth yesterday. It was a day of first sightings, as in the am I stumbled on a bald eagle nesting in a remote small pond in Plymouth. I'm betting it's the same nest that produced the juveniles I spotted a number of times in south Plymouth last year. Spotted a ton of nice largemouth cruising, but I think the high pressure and bluebird skies put them off the bite. Pickeral were not an issue however and I had a few nice ones.

If you really want to see right whales up close, head to Race Pt...the whales are almost on the beach! On land you can actually get closer than boats are permitted to approach

Another five today and while I was tempted to put my kayak in, when I did the math the legal distance wasn't going to be worth the effort. Later this afternoon I walked a trail beside a local pond and was amazed at the number of big bass right up against the bank. Time to break out the jig and pig to start skipping into the overhanging shoreline brush. Two eagles are nesting on the pond and we're working the other side.
