I don't know if I'd go that far.

The last election was between two people who were morally bankrupt reptiles. Here's the difference. I see huge (yuuge?) numbers of influential Republicans, calling Trump out when he acts like a jerk. Megyn Kelly had a huge show on Fox at the time, and she constantly criticized Trump. I don't see people on th eleft similarly calling out Obama for his bitter clingers remark, nor do I see people on the left bashing Hilary for her disgusting depiction of conservatives as racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, xenophobic deplorables.

Both sides are being divisive, no question. But it's more tolerated on the left, also no question. When was the last time there was a college riot started by conservatives, in an effort to prevent a liberal speaker from speaking?

Pretty sad state of affairs when it takes a violent incident like this, clearly a partisan motivated attack, to seemingly unify the two sides of congress, if only for the day. We can only hope they all reflect and commit themselves to the work on behalf of the American public, not their respective parties.....

You're post in that thread said

"Using the death of a 9 year old to push a political agenda speaks volumes of the class of people we still have in office."

and yet you said here "It appears the Democratic politicians have blood on their hands"

It appears that you are doing in this thread exactly what you complained about in that thread. Did I misunderstand one of the posts?

Yes, liberals are sometimes the victims of crime. But there is a difference, GS. Watch Foxnews all day. Then watch CNN all day. Then watch MSNBC all day. See how many times you see conservative hosts/guests make Democrats out to be the devil. And see how many times you see liberal hosts/guests claim that conservatives are pure evil. There will be no comparison.

It's not as rampant or as vile on the right, not from established politicians or TV hosts.

Paul, I don't claim conservatives are perfect, I don't even claim they are right on all the big issues. But there is no comparison when it comes to hate or vitriol. Al Sharpton has his own show in liberal land. What's the right wig equivalent of that, exactly?

Isn't that vitriol and hypocrisy and if someone crazy to kill a Dem, would it have been bc of what Gingrich said? There are many younger people who vote Dem and I'm sure some of the vile things said by Dems are said by those younger people and when they get older (similiar to Repub ages) they would realize those things aren't appropriate.

When trump said he saw muslims celebrating, there were all kinds of conservatives criticizing him for saying that. That's the difference, and it's a big difference.

On the left, you have this bullsh*t black lives matter movement that was given a megaphone on tv every night, claiming that cops are the enemy. In the wake of this, we have an unprecendented wave of cop assassinations,

trump also has said on many occasions, that most muslims are good people.

I have no problem blaming dems for this, just as it's absolutely justifiable to blame the left for the cop assassinations. BLM rose from the dung heap on the political left.

Do you ever concede to facts that don't happen to align with your side Paul?

I keep asking this, never get a thoughtful answer. Which side riots when they don't get their way? Which side riots to keep the other side's speakers from speaking?

You, Paul, are very tolerant of other peoples views. The left, as a whole, hates other people's views. Hence obamas bitter counters remark and Hilary's deplorables remark. Was there widespread criticism from the left, of those remarks?

Not to say we don't have jerks on our side, trump is an example. But trump gets criticized for it by many leaders on the right. His jerkiness isn't celebrated, it isn't portrayed as the truth, ,not nearly to the extent that vitriol has become accepted on the left.

So I go onto Yahoo news just now, and the lead headline says this in huge bold letters:

"Searching For Conscience In Trump's Cabinet".

According to the author, and according to Yahoo, the entire Trump cabinet is devoid of conscience. Dr Ben Carson has no conscience. General Mattis has no conscience.

This is what liberals do. When they get clobbered all over the map, instead of conceding there might be a lesson there to be learned, they claim the other side is evil. Because it's acceptable, even noble, when you lose to evil. It's a lot harder to admit that you lost a fair contest.

So much for toning down the rhetoric.

Jim - Did you look at the link I provided to DS?

Yes I remember.

Paul, conservatives, as a group, don't spend all day telling everyone how evil the other side is (there are some exceptions of course). That's what a huge number of liberals do. When you endlessly tell people that conservatives are evil, you cannot claim to be shocked when some unstable kook believes you and decides to do something about it.

Watch MSNBC in prime time, then watch CNN in prime time, then watch Foxnews in primetime. No comparison. Zip.

The closest thing Fox has to a right wing nut is Sean Hannity. But he has liberal guests on all the time that make him look like the simpleton he is. The 2 biggest cable shows ever were OReilly and Megyn Kelly. Each of them had smart, thoughtful liberals on all the time, and every single night, those hosts would say to liberal guests, "that's a good point". When does that happen at MSNBC or CNN?

All you need to do to see my point, is consider (1) which side engages in violent riots every time something doesn't go their way, or (2) think about how Black Lives Matter came about, and what they have done.

It is unfortunate that a lot of these "lone wolfs" are mere lost boys, people with troubles, maybe a little or a lot disturbed. Maybe the will and loose canon is enough to do the deed and the reason/ideology (BLM/Bernie/Trump/News Media) are just the target selection.

We all know people we would be hesitant to give a machete or gun, or let drive a car, or dispense meds.

It is getting worse with the instant and round the clock outrage.

In your honest opinion , how do you think this would be playing out here and in the media if this had been a Trump campaign working shooting democrats ?

I don't think the Democrats are responsible for this, I think this was a random kook. Fair enough?

I do think the Democrats were absolutely responsible for the wave of cop assassinations that took place, where the killers explicitly said they were targeting cops. That's on the liberals. You invite the pig Al Sharpton to the Oval Office 50 or 60 times, you shriek on the air, over and over, that cops are targeting blacks, you don't even question the fact that the BLM movement was literally built on something that never happened (that the fat jerk in Ferguson had his hands up).

As I said, compare apples to apples. Of course there are violent maniacs on the right. But they are on the fringe (with the possible exception of Trump). On the left, at the national level, that's almost all you see.

Compare the heads of each party's national committee, the leaders in the house, the leaders in the senate, the prime time hosts at Fox vs MSNBC. You really see no difference in the vitriol there? Harry Reid is as dignified as Mitch McConnell? Nancy Pelosi is as dignified as Paul Ryan? Rachael Maddow is as rational as Megyn Kelly? Give me a break.

But both parties continue to run extreme candidates.

I'd love to get a political definition of "extreme"

rigid?
committed?
unfiltered?
orientation on issues?
volume and quality of rhetoric?
anyone that disagrees with you?(current best pick)

seems more(generally) a convenient label where one stands where they are standing and labels those outside their box "extreme"...like a "centrist" except they use a circle instead of a box:bl:

the left jumped immediately to the Gifford's shooting but that guy was an "extreme" paranoid schizophrenic.....not sure if that should be included in the realm of political extremism or what motivated him was much beyond being out of touch with reality....does having a mental illness and any unfortunate actions associated with it make you an "extremist" when/if you act and if a victim of your actions is a political figure and is political rhetoric to blame?

"extremist" is one of those words, like many others, so beaten to death by the political and media class in a rush to characterize those that disagree as "extreme" then echoed through society that it barely has meaning....just thrown out there as a qualifier to say...you are and I'm not so I'm a better person, shut up....like many other words these days....stick and stones...blah...blah..blah...but words....they travel faster......:chatter

Show me a clip of Hannity saying that a liberal who got shot, in any way deserves what happened? And Hannity is one person, he's the closest thing the right wing has to a nut. There are many on the left far more extreme, far more hateful.

WDMSO, you can point out a guy like Alex Jones, who is absolutely deranged. But here's the difference between the left and the right, today in this country. Alex Jones operates in the fringe, no one in the mainstream gives him a significant platform. On the left, Al Sharpton spends more time in the Oval Office than the White House tour guides, and he has his own show. Big, big difference. In a fair world, no one would know who Alex Jones is. But we are a free country, so people can listen to him if they want. He is not mainstream. The right doesn't allow deranged lunatics to be included in the mainstream. Melissa Harris Perry has a show on MSNBC, and she wore tampons on air, for earrings. That is a foaming-at-the-mouth, howling-at-the-moon, lunatic.

And that's just the media. Look at politicians. Compare Paul Ryan to Nancy Pelosi (speakers of the house). Compare Harry Reid to Mitch McConnell (senate leaders). Has the RNC ever had a nutjob lead it, to compare to Deb Wasserman Schultz or the lady who fed debate questions to Hilary (and lied about doing it), and who was fired by Cuomo's presidential campaign for spreading lies about the GOP opponent?

You want to know if both sides are equally extreme? The influence of Al Sharpton ends that debate. Obama sought his counsel more than 50 times, and he has his own television show. There is nothing on the right that comes close to that. Maybe Steve Bannon, but he hasn't worked up mobs to kill people like Sharpton has. Sharpton has innocent blood on his hands, that is a fact. Then there's the whole Tawana Brawley thing.

And Hannity is one person, he's the closest thing the right wing has to a nut.

Ummm.. I like Hannity and think hes a little whacky at times but spot on at others. But as far as the right goes, we have Glenn Beck and he by a good margin, out NUTS Hannity in a who's the nut in the bunch. We also have Savage in the nut dept. but they balance out Rush, Levin, Moon Griffon, and the others. MAGA

True, Beck and Savage are a bit out there. Which is why neither oft hem has their own TV show.

Agree with everything you said.

Alex Jones is a fool. He is the right's MSNBC/4chan/reddit rolled into one. Savage is just as often nuts last I heard on radio - I don't even think he is on local airwaves anymore.

Hannity is slipping that way. Hannity was marginally decent but his Trumpswabbery and promotion of Assange / Wikileaks lost it for me - I switch to Dan Yorke show at that time..

I listen a little to Beck on the morning driving when he has good commentary or gusts and quickly turn him off when gets all megachurch preacher.

Each one of these can be right technically or philosophically at times and they can be phenomenally wrong. Most are becoming more polarizing.

All true. But last time I watched Hannity at all (it's been awhile), he didn't constantly claim that everyone who disagrees with him, is evil. Even if you claim that Foxnews is as conservative as MSNBC is liberal (which it's not, not even close), Fox constantly has thoughtful liberals on, who get to make their case, and the Fox hosts (at least Bill OReilly and Megyn Kelly) would often say, "that's a good point, I agree with you". Does that happen at MSNBC? Hell, does it happen on CNN anymore?

"Hannity hes on both thats would say such a thing.."

"The right doesn't allow deranged lunatics to be included in the mainstream. " You watch enough Fox but never seen any??? but msmbc does?? thats not factual that what you think .. there all on the radio

Obama seen Al sharpton 50 time in 8 years OMG again you bring that up !! how do you know this happen its was public what policys did he influence ??

But Trump White House to Keep Its Visitor Logs Secret

The White House

APRIL 14, 2017

it would cut off public access to visitor logs revealing who is entering the White House complex and which officials they are meeting, breaking with the Obama administration’s practice and returning a cloak of secrecy over the basic day-to-day workings of the government.

but nothing about that ,, that story wasn't in your inbox?

Do we need to find examples in local elections that point the other way too?

All the extremism sucks. But both parties continue to run extreme candidates.

this doesn't sound extreme :rotf3:

Hillary Clinton ✔ @HillaryClinton

Forget death panels. If Republicans pass this bill, they're the death party.

Compared to Trump's absolutely

CNN sent their Supreme Court sketch artist to Friday’s White House press briefing after the White House announced it would be banning cameras from the briefing.

Press secretary Sean Spicer has said that the purpose of banning TV cameras from select briefings is to promote “a more substantive discussion about actual issues.” He told conservative radio host Laura Ingraham in an interview Wednesday that going off-camera cuts down on showboating by reporters who “want to become YouTube stars and ask some snarky question that's been asked eight times.”

WOW to use one of your's thats a serious Butt hurt response

And obviously that is a correct statement .
At any given moment you know exactly what Trump is doing and thinking . That's part of his problem .
