Today while i was there I saw an positive and a negative happening at the same time ..

While walking the beach there is a cut that the upper pond drains out to the Ocean to my surprise I saw what at 1st were peanut Bunker .. After a closer look they were herring flowing from the pond .. a qiuck look around i saw and dismantled several small dams (made by kids ) reducing the flow leaving them unable to reach the ocean .. took the time explained to some adults and kids what was going on and what the were and some begin Rescuing them placing them in the ocean as the tide came up I went back repeating the process until i left ...

What was sad was there was no signs giving people direction on what was going on or how important it was to not hinder their return to the ocean .. and 5 mins with a backhoe could have improved the flow insuring more fry made it back to return next year ... another failure of State and town Management to strengthen herring at little to no cost

Every fall they have an excavator there doing just that. Usually works on it for an entire day. Its actually pretty deep when finished, sometimes tough to cross (even in waders).
