Had a decent trip Friday night with a really big white marlin.we chummed at night and got invaded by squid all night,we bagged around 80 pounds with a dip net for efficiency! Had two runoffs on livies that each broke the leader, real reel screamers. Set up to troll before light and picked up a couple yellows that were on the large side. Hit a pot for mahi palooza with three bulls caught on light spin tackle, too many to count overall.

Nice! Looks like I'm not going to make it to the edge this season. :(

Way to go Chris. Spent Friday night in Veatch, also lots of squid. At one time there was a pod of dolphin herding them under the boat. Hooked up a good sized hammer that broke off at the boat after some pics. Had a whity enter our spread but no luv, saw a big blue on the "otherside" of a high flyer as we picked off mahi. No tuna luv for use but did bring home >100lbs of mahi fillets.

The only thing I dislike about the canyons is leaving them. Man what a different world out there. I would love to spend an extended time out there.
Currently have canyon fever pretty bad

We were on our way out there but the Capt got distracted by "fishy looking water" that wasn't fishy at all. So we drove in circles for too long..mahi on spinning gear saved the day.

:btu: keeping an eye on the weather.

I think if I do take my boat it will be a deep drop sword, deep drop tilefish, live tunny on balloons for marlin, fill the boat with mahi type trip. With surface trolling only to get from place to place and during peak hours. Don't really want to blind squirrel weekend day away at 5 knots. I would rather catch stuff then risk all or nothing.

I have gas money and quality spinning gear...

Please share some canyon pics! I need a fix. A few pics of all those things freak mentioned would do very nicely....
