Tried to introduce a new saltwater fly fisher to some easy pickings so I thought. So I went out to a sandbar out by charles island :) but so far except for one outing I had last week it was a bust everytime since then. What's the word this year.. Seems snappers are hard to come by at least for me west of new haven . Also saw this out at one of the salt ponds out in Rhode island I visited a few times over the past few weeks and yesterday..

I grew up in West Haven, and almost every year after I moved out, I would take one day at around this time of year, drive down to West Haven (sometimes Milford), and catch my 10 snappers, bring them home, fry them up. and let the taste remind me of when I was 12 years old, and did it a few times a week, all season long. It's always a moving thing for me to do (brings back so many great memories), and somehow it totally slipped my mind this year.

I hope there's a benign explanation, and not a shortfall.

No trouble finding them in the eastern sound. Try east of the river.
