Nebe 10-11-2017, 10:00 PM If you can’t match the gel coat color, I’d fill with west system and medium density micro balloons so you can sand it somewhat easily. Then I’d scuff up the whole transom and paint it with a topside paint. What about the stb aft corner where the damage is 🤔 Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Raider Ronnie 10-12-2017, 02:00 AM Looking for suggestions on how to fix.... Fill, sand, gel coat? 64630 Looks to be plain white gel coat and lower stb corner so a blend not a big issue. Sand area, rough up gouges with 60-80 grit, wash with acetone, fill with (looks to be just gel coat gouged, not glass) poly fare or other filler, 3 coats of gel coat, last coat sprayed mix 50/50 with duratech clear. Sand & buff. 1 day job for me. You will need to redo the boot stripes also. Easily fixed though as already advised. Happen on the water or on the trailer? Guppy 10-12-2017, 06:18 AM Stb aft corner.... Tied up to a float in river with tide and wind against me... Hadn't noticed rub guard missing but not the mounting screws... Once I took off couldn't stop or end up on rocks...... It sounded just like it looks... :-( What day u free Ron... ;-) Probably fill soon and finish warm weather next year.... JFigliuolo 10-12-2017, 06:22 AM Hardest part will be matching the color. If "pretty close" is good enough, that's no harder than repairing drywall. While Ronnie's advice is likely dead-on. You could easily fill sand repeat w/o needing to spray. I filled a nice "learning gauge" on my boat and i have a tough time finding it. To me... that's "pretty good". One thing to remember, the gell coat ON your boat has likely faded a bit so don't be surprised if the repaired (and surrounding) area is a bit darker than the rest of the hull. Slipknot 10-12-2017, 09:00 AM ya that is not going to buff out Ray is that from a dock or multiple times on and off a trailer? Put a wheel on the dock corner or fix the guide posts of the trailer, then repair the damage so you don't operator error again bloocrab 10-12-2017, 10:19 AM Leave it be....adds character :jump: Guppy 10-12-2017, 05:58 PM ya that is not going to buff out Ray is that from a dock or multiple times on and off a trailer? I thought two coats would do it, but it would take me a couple days... DA sander will make it shorter work compared to RO sander. (of course our contractors' compressors won't keep up, so you will need a larger supply tank) See if you can tint the filler white.... 's just a flesh wound.... fish raptor 10-13-2017, 07:25 PM Stb aft corner.... Tied up to a float in river with tide and wind against me...
