Hi guys:
I'd appreciate you input. All my spinning rods are for fishing from the shore and are too long for my boat. I'd like to get some shorter ones at a good price. Any ideas?

after you get some good advices, try shopping on ebay. I found a lot of nice fishing gear there.

I use a 7 foot Ugly Stick with a Penn 550 for my spinning set ups. They work just fine.

Look on ebay for the Penn Mariner rods. You can usually get the 6', 6.5' and 7' rods for around $20-$30. They are a very good value.

you didn't say exactly what type of fishing you plan on doing by boat or your target species. there are lots of different boat rods for different applications. more than in the surf.
as far as companies, penn makes a ok rod for its price range. for better quality look at st croix's avid series. seeker makes a nice line as well that is a little cheaper than st croix and better than penn.
