Was thinking about Joe ( MacoJoe ) earlier this evening so I sent a PM hoping all was well and he was still hanging tuff...

Phone rings a little while later, surprised as hell, it's Joe. Asked about him he says , l'm doing ok... It was good to know he's still hanging in there, one tough guy!

He proceeds to tell me about a phone call he received this morning. He says hello, someone says how ya doing, Joe says ok, the guy then says what you doing today, Joe says who is this, the guy says this is Beth Isriael? and your number is up and we have a new organ for you, get you ass in here !!!!!

Can you believe this, the day before Christmas? I was giggling like a little kid... He says he's going nuts waiting, what? Ya, I'm in the hospital with a bunch of tubes running out of me right now waiting for them to come get me any moment for the op...

If this doesn't lift your heart, you're dead.. :-)

So let them fly, T&P's for Joe

UPDATE; I just talked to Joe's daughter. The surgery went well. He's resting now and she was just on her way to go see him. I told her to keep us posted and that we are all thinking of him.

Another update; I talked to Joe personally earlier this afternoon but I've been busy with family.
The surgery went fine and Joe is in recovery. He sounded good. The new kidney is not functioning as of yet, but the Dr says that is normal and typically takes a week before it starts fully functioning. So that means he will have to have some dialysis until that happens. But this is huge for Joe's life as a whole. He was nearing the typical end of how long most people respond to dialysis, so it came just in time.

Just talked to Joe. He is doing well. He did say he felt pretty tired today. So far his labs look good and has not needed dialysis. Joe says he will be cut loose and home tomorrow. He will need to return to Tufts once/week for the month of January. All good news.
