These guys are reeling in a fish when this boat comes at them and crashes right over their boat as they dive in the water. Luckily there weren't little kids on board.

I had a well known charter capt run his boat right at me a few years ago because I was casting at "his" fish. The A in type A stands for a$$hole

Saw that today, insane.

Curious to what the story behind it could be

Didn't a boat run over a boat right front of Watch Hill last year and kill him.

That right there is why, for kayakers, great whites are less of a concern compared to boat traffic.

Hmmmm...let me put the boat to full throttle and go take a nap....my legs are tired.

This your 1st Time ?
I’m at 4 times. Each out east of Stellwagen, 3 times intentional because I was fishing in Their ocean, 4th time was on auto pilot.
1 was a well known former 100 ft head boat out of Lynn Ma..
2nd & 3rd Times were commercial Gill netters out of Gloucester.
4th was a big dragger out of Scituate.

Plenty of kayakers have 0 common sense on the water paddling their little plastic boards through high traffic areas. Hull Gutt in Boston is a good example.

Kayakers are all over Narr Bay also. Some have flags, some don't. I always keep a sharp eye for them especially around Conimicut Light where they seem to congregate.

In my Hobie I always have a life jacket on if I'm anywhere near boat traffic, even if the water is bath water warm and with the peddle drive I can have that puppy up to over 4knots in seconds. If I even think there is a boat coming my way and not paying attention (no evidence of a course change), I'm moving quickly to give them room.

Flag is always up and I made mine out of a longer home depot marker stake, sits probably two feet above the typical yak flag.

That wasn't quite my point but fair enough.

Considering this thread its probably fair to note....both boaters and kayaker can be accused of being foolish....and have 0 common sense.

I have not kayak fished since I have moved back to the East coast.
Out in CA, I often had party boats park right up next to me. Never
failed to amaze me. Miles of ocean everything is quiet and the guy
comes spewing diesel exhaust, sees me, pulls up, and then takes 15
minutes setting anchor on the reef churning up all the water and
making it like a big mud slick. Hahahhaaha.

I dont know how many times boat fisherman come up on my location
as a surfcaster. One time a guy persisted in getting closer and
closer. He was within a 3/4 cast. I sent a few casts to illustrate what
my range was. He didn't care. I just dropped my rod and sat back
and watched as the bigshot hung is boat up on the reef in front of me.

Not everyone has common sense, its not the activity, its the operator.

It’s a God damn big ocean.

Haha !

I will never forget the day when I was about 8 or 10 years old on my grand parents boat and some idiot motored through the folk fest fleet at a fast clip in his big steel schooner. He ended up punching his bow sprit right through the back of a 60 foot motor yacht. The sound was amazing. Crunching fiber glass, splintering wood. Snapping forstay. And then screaming women and angry yelling men.

WOW!! Yeah it really is an awesome event and great time on the water, but you have to have your head on a swivel. 2 years ago there were about 8 boats of people screaming at a couple backing down a 40' searay and slammed into a anchored parker. They had no idea they were in reverse. They did get arrested which was a plus. everyone was cheering as they got towed away. Love Folk Fest!

I read it was a 74 year old guy that was confined to a motorized cart while on land. He admitted he was sitting down at the time of the accident and could not see directly in front of him - because he was on plane. :rollem:
