August 14 3002

15 year old son catches biggest one of the day.
almost 20 lbs and 39" (He beat me again)...
A bit windy day, but we hammered fish all day. Probably 6-8 bass (I released one only a few ounds less than his), and over a dozen BIG blues. Plus lots of losses.
WHAT A DAY, finally the big fish are in Boston.
Like a friend of mine says """""YEAH BABY""""" !!!!!!!!!!!!!

a tip on blues to keep the meat as fresh as possible
cut em and ice em while they're still kicking
otherwise they tend to get a strong flavor to em
gotta get the blood out ASAP

We only kept the blue for weigh-in, cause they taste like crap. All the other blues we released. It was not iced, but kept in the live well with water running on it. The skin dried really quick at home, but i did filet it and the meat was still cool, I gave to someone who likes bluefish..
I having striper tonight YUMMY....

Hey Van, I should have chased you around yesterday. You had the magic. We took the stinky skunk. That's two trips in a row. I probably deserve it since I was getting a little bit cocky.

Thursday I snuck out kind of unexpectedly and had a frustrating day with fish all over my spots and on a couple flats, but they just would not eat.

Yesterday was just too windy to fish like I want and it was cold! I must be used to 90 degrees. Once I got wet, I was shiverin' out there. But we cruised around the harbor early lookin' for schoolies or blues up top, then hit structure. Not much happenin'... the half a spool of someone's line that got wrapped around my trolling motor didn't help. I couldn't even hold position against the wind and thought I must have not charged my battery. We ended up drifting with the wind and it was just too fast to fish effectively.

I took the prop off when I got home just cause I was sure I'd put a charge on the battery. Nice mess.

Not sure it would have helped much. The harbor seems a bit off. I lost one mid-20" schoolie at the boat. My brother-in-law dropped a bluefish as well. Other than that, a few chasers and light bumps. Not very aggressive.

Those are good fish you guys got... good job.

I want my bait back. These fish would eat a live one I'd bet.
