Isn’t it great to see Trump making socialism great again ?

I'd like to see less government control rather than more. The usual suspects in charge know that you control the food, you control the people. Remember gun control is not about guns, it is about control. Last I checked, this country is a free country and I'd like it to remain that way as a free enterprise capitalist system where everyone has choices not just the elite control freaks. I don't like how government tells farmers what to do, I prefer to buy at local farm stands etc.

I don't know what the circumstances are behind Trump paying farmers, but I bet it is not for socialism

It isn't, but it is another stick for people to beat him with.

The 12 billion handout is to subsidize the farmers who are going to be screwed over by trumps tarriffs which in my opinion are a stealth tax.

It’s just another payout to a victim of trumps ego and will cost each taxpayer $95

Trump is protecting farmers from Trump's trade war.

Trump is protecting his voting base from Trump's trade war.

I fixed it for you.

Note the lack of comment from his fans here ? They will just close their eyes and say it’s farm aid, not socialism or say Obama did it too so it’s ok.

It's not socialism, just demonstrates how little thought or competency is going into our policies right now.

Wealth redistribution. How’s that?

Haven't you guys been paying attention

Trade is fairly screwed overall and not as fair to us as it should be - too many countries have better deals at our expense.

Donald J. Trump

@realDonaldTrump
Farmers have been on a downward trend for 15 years. The price of soybeans has fallen 50% since 5 years before the Election. A big reason is bad (terrible) Trade Deals with other countries. They put on massive Tariffs and Barriers. Canada charges 275% on Dairy. Farmers will WIN!

more lies

It is simply not true that “Farmers have done poorly for 15 years.”

U.S. farms have seen net farm income generally decline in the last five years. But they “experienced a golden period during 2011 through 2014 due to strong commodity prices and robust agricultural exports,” according to a February report by the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service.

Again Republicans never did bad trade deals ..... dows at 25,210.07 damn those bad trade deals...

I’m not a fan but since he seems to be trying to make something more equal but then at the same time screwing farmers so he has to make up for it, I think he needs to rethink the process. What if the tarriffs take in four times what he makes up for? Is that still costing us $95?

The tariffs are just going to be passed down the chain to the consumer. So you still end paying for this in one way or another.

The tariffs are going to reduce exports, not raise revenue. You can buy soybeans and pork from a lot of countries.

Once you lose a customer and they find a new supplier, it is tough to get them back.

“This is becoming more and more like a Soviet-type of economy here: Commissars deciding who’s going to be granted waivers, commissars in the administration figuring out how they’re going to sprinkle around benefits,” said Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.). “I’m very exasperated. This is serious.”

Ironically, Congress has supported this kind of thing for decades. Republican reps are anti welfare unless it goes to big ag and isn't identified specifically as welfare. Kudos to this guy for speaking up.

Might be a moot issue. If we cull out 30% of our farmers we won't need to export or bail anyone out.

Trump will enjoy watching the anti tariff ads Farmers for Free Trade are buying to run on his favorite state news program among others.
