i wanted to take my 11 year old on a night trip to block, and a few guys here recommended cohenfishing from this site. we fished until 3am last night.

that was one of the better, more accurate recommendations i have received, so thanks guys. cohen was awesome, especially with my son. very instructive and patient and encouraging. his boat was awesome, his fishing tackle was top notch, and he really knows what he’s doing out there. and he was very easy to be with on the boat and to talk to, which is important with kids.

we had a terrific flurry ( and by ‘we’, i mean my son, i couldn’t do anything, one of those nights), jason landed by far, the biggest fish he has ever caught completely on his own while holding the rod from strike until being brought aboard, 42 pounds. when he set the hook on that fish, he never said “dad i’m getting hit”, or “i’m getting a nibble”, all he said was “YES!”, as he knew it was a large.

somehow, after he brought us back to the ramp at 330, cohen was going right back out for sharks.

i can’t recommend him enough. give him a try, you won’t regret it.

Jim , your doing all the rights things .your exposing your son to a vast mixed of the greatness that comes with all fresh & saltwater activities .
he may take up fishing , he may not .but its not from expose.

One of my G/s,s doesn,t really care about saltwater water fishing ……..But tell him we are going after green crabs & he,ll do it it all .

My daughter [ no kid ] still wants to hand dig shellfish .

My son had the best of experience with commercial & rec >> salt & fresh fishing …..along with being a damn good shellfisherman …………He quit to wash windows ……..dumb 1/2 breed

I,ve had my Sea Hunt since 2003 & he,s only been in it once ??????????? . But he lives in Charlestown & catches the sunrises & sunset & lets me know about the weather/ bait & anything else he things I could use .

Thanks, that is a deep compliment. My oldest has 2 younger brothers, they love the beach, and like to catch fish when it's convenient, but neither has any interest in sacrificing sleep or waiting for bites. My oldest really appears to have a profound affinity for all things related to interacting with the water.

I think it's nothing short of a miracle to live near the ocean, and to have, as you put it, such a vast number of different ways to interact with the ocean and the ecosystems we have been blessed with. Right now, I think he likes lobstering more than fishing. Not many 11 year olds know how to work a string of traps, but he does.

Here's his big fish, he's very proud...what a perfect specimen, fat, healthy, fins extended, not a drop of blood on her, she was released to get bigger.

A top notch captain, a nice guy to have around my son, and I'm not sure he's entirely human. How does he have the energy to drop us off at the ramp, then immediately go out 40 miles for sharks with another group? I was so tired and completely shot, I was hallucinating on the 15 minute drive to our hotel in Charlestown. I'm still deliriously tired as I type this, he's guiding people to sharks.

Man you aren't kidding, I didn't see any skinny racers out there.

You go out with your boat? It was interesting being out there in the pitch black, and it was pitch black. You have radar? On the way in, inside the harbor of refuge, we passed a boat with guys fishing on it, they had no lights on for some godforsaken reason.

Cohen has never, ever, ever, ever given me a bad piece of advice; he’s a great guy and class act. And fish...he catches fish or something. I hear he can cook, as well.
