JohnR 08-07-2018, 10:16 AM I think Infowars is one of the stupidest things on the digital ether, up there with the Antifa/NeoNazis/SRA and of course, Commies (Communist supporters are a special kind of stupid as Communists in practice subdue free speech and individual rights) .
So FB, Apple, and others have pulled the mic on AJ and InfoWars.
Now a sitting US Senator (one of Jim's favorites ; ) ) tweets this in response (see below). Not a good look for a sitting US Senator
scottw 08-07-2018, 10:25 AM A leaked memo circulating among Senate Democrats contains a host of bonkers authoritarian proposals for regulating digital platforms, purportedly as a way to get tough on Russian bots and fake news. To save American trust in "our institutions, democracy, free press, and markets," it suggests, we need unprecedented and undemocratic government intervention into online press and markets, including "comprehensive (GDPR-like) data protection legislation" of the sort enacted in the E.U.
Titled "Potential Policy Proposals for Regulation of Social Media and Technology Firms," the draft policy paper—penned by Sen. Mark Warner

Murphy is not my kind of guy. He criticizes these groups for tearing our nation apart, yet accuses you of supporting mass infanticide if you aren't in favor of repealing the second amendment.
He is a child, a baby, in the body of a US Senator.
wdmso 08-07-2018, 11:04 AM Info wars 1a Right have not been affected ... Private company's have decided to not allow them to use their platform to spread their message
they are free to develop a platform of their own if they wish.. Have they been removed from radio and TV ?

But no issue when Trump call the media the enemy of the people :kewl:
This story and others like shadow blocking or American Christians under Attack’ or plastic ban Straw outrage ... Is Just typical Conservative Fear mongering and conspiracy theories
Ted Cruz defends Alex Jones’ free speech; praises Trump for having `permanently unmasked the media’
QAnon, the scarily popular pro-Trump conspiracy theory,
Roseanne Barr, formerly the star of the No. 1 show on network television, is just one of Q’s biggest supporters.
And the conspiracy theory is being pushed by some of the far right’s biggest voices, including Alex Jones and Sean Hannity.

three "conspiracy theory" in one post...good job :jester:

Lots to unpack here Wayne

When a sitting US Senator praises the operation of Private Companies in taking people - even crackpots - off those platforms and says more must be done - yes, that IS an attack on 1A. Thye subtlety might have been lost here, FB and Apple did not impact 1A but when a US Senator calls for it it is an attack on Free Speech and the 1A. I would think you would be able to spot the difference
But no issue when Trump call the media the enemy of the people :kewl:
Trumps treatment overall of the Press is disturbing. The Press' use of BIAS and poor reporting is also disturbing. Both can be bad and called out.
This story and others like shadow blocking or American Christians under Attack’ or plastic ban Straw outrage ... Is Just typical Conservative Fear mongering and conspiracy theories
You mean like the NRA kills kids?
Ted Cruz defends Alex Jones’ free speech; praises Trump for having `permanently unmasked the media’
Some media deserve to be in the spotlight, it is not binary.
QAnon, the scarily popular pro-Trump conspiracy theory,
Roseanne Barr, formerly the star of the No. 1 show on network television, is just one of Q’s biggest supporters.
WTF is Qanon? Like Antifa of SRA?
And the conspiracy theory is being pushed by some of the far right’s biggest voices, including Alex Jones and Sean Hannity.
Both of them are fools and tools, now call out the same fools and tools from the left.

Are there any of similar magnitude? I don't think I could name one.

Interesting point - individuals? You mean like Michael Moore? Susan Sarandon? They might be AJ level crazy and MM is certainly AJ level opportunistic.
Organizations, that is easy, like Vox and Slate

Sorry I am not the one having issues spotting the difference I see clearly you feel the senator comments are more concerning to you then the POTUS litany of comments against the free press
I would think you would be able to spot the difference.. really ? you used disturbing for both Trump and the press another false equivalence
Trumps treatment overall of the Press is disturbing. The Press' use of BIAS as disturbing
But than again Conservatives think Money doesn't restrict free speech rather money equals speech
Imagine if the first amendment had a clause that said that the freedom of speech was a given right asl long as your speech was a truth. Imagine if the freedom of press was a given right as long as it was a truth and imagine if the word news was a label given to TRUTH. this world would be a different place.

Imagine if the First Amendment allowed people in government to decide what was acceptable speech and what was not, without any lawful recourse.
This world would be a different place.

I can't recall a single thing Sarandon has ever said. Not saying she hasn't been nutty but off of my radar. As for MM, he's dabbled in conspiracy but most of his stuff is in your face activism. He's a blip that surfaces time and time again but nothing like the consistent crazy you get from AJ and SH who have big daily audiences.
Vox and Slate may be liberal but they're not conspiracy driven.
I've said this many times but the left doesn't have 1/10th of the disinformation machine that the right does. It's not even close.

Trumps treatment of the press is disturbing. The Press's treatment of the truth is suspect at best and it's wielding of Bias is unacceptable. I am sorry you are not unable to separate the two

That's a GREAT post. There is a huge difference between being educated and being smart. And the difference between those two things, is increasing rapidly.
I'll take a guy who can fix a tranny, over a fake Native American who can quote from Chairman Mao's Little Red Book.
