View Full Version : Tog poacher caught
bobber 10-28-2018, 12:08 PM saw a post from Mike Laptew regarding a guy from East Greenwich who got caught with 21 blackfish- this clown tried to avoid getting pinched by throwing fish back and disregarded the commands of the EPO. managed to get himself several tickets s a result.
with a 10 fish limit, whats the need to be so greedy? in CT we can only take 4 fish per day- and that's till plenty to eat.
JohnR 10-28-2018, 12:15 PM I saw this from Toby. Repeat offender too
Here is a link to the same event

afterhours 10-28-2018, 09:22 PM Repeat offender, see a lot of those. Take the gear, boat, and truck and let's see if they poach again.
Fish were alive and dumped - I'm thinking these were destined for commercial market. Apparently the market for live tog is still popular.
fishbones 10-29-2018, 08:42 AM I’m confused about the comment that all 21 fish were returned to the wild. The article shows a picture of 21 tog on the pavement and they don’t look very alive.

MakoMike 10-29-2018, 08:50 AM The limit in RI is ten fish PER BOAT.
zimmy 10-29-2018, 01:27 PM I know of a guy who was busted in Bridgeport for keeping under size stripers that were blitzing peanuts about a week ago. He bragged about taking 30 in the morning and selling them for $1 a piece. Returned in the evening and had several on a stringer and somehow the DEP got him, so I heard :devil2:. Took his rod, tackle, and fish.

Hows that being a smart-ass ? Looks like 21 dead tog to me and the article does clearly say the fish were released alive.

You can catch a tog and throw him on the rocks for hours out of the water. Then put him in a tidal pool and he will magically come back to life. I believe that they hibernate in the winter off shore and can go totally dormant at the flip of a switch.

At least one of those in that pile is suffering from a distended and extremely dislocated sphincter with his guts poking out of his ass.... Just because a few of the liberals in the political forum seem to thrive in this condition, does not mean fish can.
