The Dad Fisherman 11-06-2018, 07:04 AM The drinking age is 21, the smoking age is being raised to 21 in a lot of places, 21 to smoke weed where legal. Kids at 18 are to immature to make these kinds of decisions, but yet mature enough to make an informed decision on who should run the country at age 16. Retard Logic right there. I suppose their will be an "App for That" scottw 11-06-2018, 07:36 AM The drinking age is 21, the smoking age is being raised to 21 in a lot of places, 21 to smoke weed where legal. You shouldn't be able to vote before your 27th Birthday... LOL. If you are on Mommy's health care and live in Mommy's basement... you are not mature enough to vote... it's funny because it is very close to truth.... Pete F. 11-06-2018, 09:40 AM You can join the armed services at 17. You can drive with a permit is some states at 14 and a license at 16. If they start voting early maybe they will continue voting, unlike almost half of americans. Hopefully they will find that local politics are important and some will get involved. I don't agree with this kids views but he was pretty impressive. 14 and in the Vermont primary https://youtu.be/S6nQiSUZWek Got Stripers 11-06-2018, 10:38 AM Based on my own family experience raising three boys, there wasn't a level of maturity at that age I would deem vote ready. FishermanTim 11-06-2018, 10:47 AM Maybe give them a test to see if they have paid attention to ANYTHING going on in the world that isn't posted on ANY social media sites and is not hearsay or rehashing of someone else's rehashing of a tweet/post from same sites. Being able to vote at an early age will also open up the doors to high school and then college indoctrination by whatever the school feels they have the right to drill into their heads. It's a double-edged sword. Social/political responsibility but exposure to mentors who might have their own agenda.... Interesting, my kids have a better idea of what is real and not on social media than people my age. They are pretty quick to claim BS. There are some old people on Twitter with lots of followers far older than children that consistently spread fake news. (Not a pointed comment) Most of us have views that are pretty close to our parents and if you spend time with your children, yours will too.
