Sea Dangles 02-07-2019, 09:06 AM Can somebody please explain what it takes to become a democratic leader? The state of Virginia is under siege due to their elected officials using poor judgment. The person they choose to respond to the state of the union address s almost as upside down as Al Sharpton. Is her debt going to get a similar pardon? It is entertaining and embarrassing at the same time. What a party of deception they have become.
Jim in CT 02-07-2019, 09:45 AM i think to be a democratic leader, you have to be unwilling to celebrate economic growth, military heroes, law
enforcement heroes, and freedom. but you must be then willing to jump up and down, and high five everyone around you, to celebrate yourself. oh, and for sure you have to believe that an unborn child
is no more meaningful
than a mole to be removed. and apparently it helps if you like to dress as blackface.

I find the whole Virginia issue a distraction from real issues, perhaps the media finds it exciting, but why is it national news. Perhaps they could look at the number of republican legislators convicted vs democrats, but that means little also.
I don't think Stacey Abrams is in that bad a place.
Perhaps she should have refused to release her tax returns.
She has Debt, how unusual for an American. She may have made some bad financial choices in her life, but I don't think she is or has been bankrupt.
Do you have to claim to be a billionaire to run for office?
She has a net worth of 510K and debt of 220K, a good income potential and she is 46.
She helped her parents after Katrina, isn't that what conservatives say people should do, help each other and not depend on the government?
Lots of Americans are in worse shape.
Jim in CT 02-07-2019, 10:07 AM pete, how convenient you find the VA “issue”, where all the top democrats are up to their eyeballs in scandal, to be a mere distraction.
i really wish we could
just come up with a set of rules for what’s acceptable and what’s not, and apply them equally to both parties. how f*cked up are we, that we cant come close to doing that? Neither side can come
close to being fair. Let’s flush the toilet, and elect rational
people who though they may disagree, can do so fairly and honestly.
i could care less if
someone put black makeup on in 1985. as for accusations of sexual
assault, give them
a hearing where they are innocent until proven guilty.

Pete F. 02-07-2019, 10:17 AM I pay no attention to Virginia politics, why should I?
What difference will politics there make in your life that you are so concerned about it.
Perhaps more concerning is that since 1969 Republican administrations have had 121 indictments and 89 convictions while the Democrats had 3 and 1

Sea Dangles 02-07-2019, 10:36 AM This is a typical liberal response from PeteF. Dismissing these acts as acceptable because they are not in his state, therefore they don’t concern him. The real problem apparently occurred 5 decades ago so lets focus on that and overlook the current climate, nothing to see here.🤡

I did not say they were acceptable, I said they were unimportant to me. You can find lots of people in Government who commit crimes, this is like the stupid hat trick that scissored the population.
You don't have to go back that far and there is a difference
Convictions per year in office for the past 50+ years
Trump 3.5
Obama 0 though i think they skipped Petraeus .125
Bush 1.1
Clinton .25
Bush .25
Reagan 2
Carter 0
Ford .4
Nixon 9.8
Johnson 0

Here's where this started for me:
"Perhaps more concerning is that since 1969 Republican administrations have had 121 indictments and 89 convictions while the Democrats had 3 and 1"
Then TDF replied with a bunch of Congressmen
Not one of TDFs was in an administration
All of mine were based on members of Presidential administrations, perhaps that was not clear enough or maybe some, like Trump seems to, think Presidents control Congress.

Sea Dangles 02-11-2019, 12:19 PM To be fair we never heard much about wealth inequality during the previous administration either. Seems it’s the hot topic du jour but it’s been trending that way for more than two years. As far as tax returns,I can’t wait to realize the savings as it will certainly be substantial. I hope everyone has similar experiences.

Look at who broke these stories and why and then you’ll fully understand .. there is no moral outrage behind it .. it was a planned targetedattact .. guess who’s looks to take the seat if they all fall as planned a republican

This is why I'm following this issue. It's a great moral dilemma for the party. Give them all a fair trial and let the chips fall where they may, which could lead to putting a republican in the seat, or sweep it under the rug because it could put a republican in the seat.
Not saying either party hasn't faces the exact consequences in the past and done either or, just watching now given the recent climate and accusations. Not to mention potential impacts to 2020.
And as far as who and why it was pointed out, as in a targeted attack, is there a situation where this stuff shouldn't be forced to light?

It is a moral dilemma but I think (both parties) have to bite the bullet and deal w/the short term pain for the good of their party. Cut the parties loose and move on.
I can see both sides of the black face debate given how old the event was. The rape(r) is a different thing.

how does someone else’s wealth threaten me? i’m all ears...if warren buffet earns another billion in 2019, please tell us how that hurts anyone else. you can’t, because it doesn’t.
i did my tax return. the tax cuts, as i said, will cover the payments on my new camper. the child
tax credits saved us a lot. we spent 25 nights in that camper this year, loved every second of it, great family memories, and every congressmen and senator in my state, voted against it.

Jim in CT 02-11-2019, 03:37 PM wdmso, there isn’t much hypocrisy in the gop with the assault claims. with kavanaugh, the gop had hearings and an fbi investigation, and concluded there was no corroborating evidence. i hear republicans saying the same thing with the lt governor...have a hearing but he’s innocent until proven guilty.
the democrats, during the kavanaugh hearings, kept saying we must believe all women, and that an accusation was enough to find him guilty. none are saying that now.

why should they? because that’s wht they said three months ago. what they got, was fair due process. a hearing, with nothing but accusations full of all kinds of
holes. the dems did
a complete 180 on this. when the accused is a democrat, he enjoys the presumption of innocence. when the accused is a republican, we can skip the trial and go straight to sentencing. where are all the idiots who said we

"Jose, can you see"? Anyone remember that headline from the Herald?
Elites divide us so we want to work against each other which collectively "controls" us all. Politicians pushing policies on their behalf to allow them to continue to horde wealth, real wealth (Rothchilds type wealth) while the money rolls in from lobbyists.
Forget about the Trump Russia collusion investigation (sad to see how many are falling for that smoke show), how about we demand the top 10 wealthiest politicians are subjected to the same scrutiny and demand to know how they are all worth more than $25M on a senator's salary. The brief glimpse behind the Clinton curtain through the Doggy Dossier investigation should tell you all you need to know. It's all a corrupt scam and nobody's above weaponizing the FBI or DOJ to protect it.
It's an FB cliche' but it's never been more true, "The left and the right are wings of the same bird".
There is no low through upper class. It's the elites against the working poor, which includes everyone on this site, no matter how well off you are, when you look at it from the prospective of the "wealthy". Anyone who believes differently are blind sheep and 99% of the #^&#^&#^&#^& argued about in this thread amounts to less than a piss hole in the snow in the overall picture.
Stop fighting each other and start fighting together.

as far as the spelling....it's not the spelling...it's the condescension that precedes the lack of ability to spell simple words or form coherent sentences that is amusing and ironic....

As for getting anything right, all I have expressed on this board is personal opinion, so I can’t get that wrong.
