Made these heavy weights to get to the bottom...I got a 2 oz ladle and been pouring a little lead...Nothing Pretty Here !!!

Blackeye I have a precision 2 oz ladle and I'm pouring right into the arse of the plug..I have to get a blank (do it )mold and figure out how to make uniform weights ....Now i'm just measuring the depth of hole and pouring...or on the lighter ones a 00 buckshot on either side of belly hook...

No Heavy lead here...either side of belly hook thats it...

I've been using split shot for mine-no problems yet, but time consuming. thinking about getting a pot and just pouringinto the butt fo the plug after the wire is run thru. when I make a polaris I end up adding up to 5 split shot-depending on the size-PITA

I was using split shot..bait stores have the good lead stuff ,,,walmart has the light enviormental stuff..My freind was going to that trading post in maine and he got me 5lb of double ot buckshot..I got about 40 lbs of ingots to melt and pour...Too bad lead will kill you its fun to work with.. You ever want to add more weight after and drill hits through wire spinning and smashing plug to pieces right in your face....thats fun huh ??:smash:

If you want a cheap way to do slugs for weights, take two pieces of scrap 2 x 4 and clamp them together. Put them on the drill press and drill exactly in the center of the two pieces with the same diameter bit as you want the weight to be. Next, find the center of the hole and drill a hole the size of your thru-wire to meet this hole. When you go to pour the lead, place a section of wire in the hole (hit it with a shot of WD-40) and clamp the wood together. Pour the lead, then pull out the wire. You now have a slug that will slide onto your thru-wire. Once you start getting a good deal of flash around the weight, drill another hole and start again. You'll do the Do-It! mold the same way.

I'm flipping a bunch at a time now..I've been experimenting with epoxy..System 3 rep very good to me..The store is late with my order so he gives me some samples to play with .....nice

Yea. hangs by wires ..I can flip it one hand (hair dryer in the other) and have a catch on the bottom that catches on wire..I have a rod building coffin thats 13' long, heated, motorized,dust free,, that I was going to incorporate into plug building..The thing takes up alot of room though ...This here rack thing unhooks from the joist and I stick it in the corner...

You have to get motorized!. I put mine on the spinner and walk away. Come back in 8 hours.

yea ...I'm all jammed up here..I would like a seperate room to finish in..Everytime it comes to finish I have to vacumm and clean everthing of dust ..Then I hang all these wet plugs over my lathe so I can't do anything untill I finish everything..someday..:smash:
