Time to retire my 5 gal. bucket wash down routine...
The pump onboard now handles live well ok but need another (stronger) for wash downs,,, tog season almost upon us...:-)

Any recommendations,,, oh, and what’s this pressure switch I see included with some ?

I've had good luck with my sure flow pro blaster, It's been installed under my console for 5 season now, I went through 1 jabsco pump every 2 seasons before getting this one, the supply tee's off my bait pump (also a sure flow)I also have it piped through an accumulator, it helps alot to maintain good pressure..I filled mine with non toxic antifreeze at seasons end to help keep it from corroding (and freezing )

If you do add an accumulator, they always stink like a swamp every time you use them for the first few minutes.

Also the pro blaster has a built in 45 PSI switch, that shuts the pump off above 45 psi so you don't blow up hoses.

Those pumps are toys !
Install a new 1 1/2 seacock with a pick up scoop under the boat.
Then install a Rule 17A as close or even better directly off the seacock.
1 1/2 hose off pump to the deck
(White vacuum wire reinforced hose sold at West Marine)
If you want high pressure find a reduction barbed fitting to bring the 1 1/2 hose down to 1/2 diameter with give you 3800 gallons per hr and high pressure.

I can see the head line now, man sinks 18' boat with wash down hose.. be real Ron... not every boat needs to flood the deck with an 1 1/2" hose, just storing it in a small boat would be a nightmare..my " "toy" does a very nice/fast job of cleaning the boat after hauling lobster pots, bleeding/gutting a limit of haddock, cleaning muck after a morning of clamming or cleaning up after snagging pogies..just like it is supposed to do..
When I had my Holland, the choice was simualr to what you describe.. it had to be..

I can see the head line now, man sinks 18' boat with wash down hose.. be real Ron... not every boat needs to flood the deck with an 1 1/2" hose, just storing it in a small boat would be a nightmare..my " "toy" does a very nice/fast job of cleaning the boat after hauling lobster pots, bleeding/gutting a limit of haddock, cleaning muck after a morning of clamming or cleaning up after snagging pogies..just like it is supposed to do..

That's a good deal, even compared to Amazon, before shipping... But if you are adding, as opposed to just replacing the pump, look into the Ultimate .kit, which includes the strainer, hose, nozzle, and most if not all the connections you would need to hook up to the seacock. At least look at the list of fittings to compare to what you will have to buy.

I got my 1993 Grady in 2007. Replaced the original Shurflo in 2013. It gets regular use on my watch. So no complaints, other than access. Need another elbow to do the change out...YMMV

The one I’m lookin at has a 3 yr. warranty, plenty good pump for a 20 footer and a replacement for the 5 gal. bucket... :-)

Go to West marine for it and get the extended warranty.
Best $20 you can spend.
Also, no matter which style you get buy a Rule.
Their warranty policy is the best and very liberal

yes, once the pressure is reached is shuts down..mine is on season # 5..the plastic bladder is a little pricey at west marine, around 60 bucks, you might find it cheaper somewhere else, but IMHO, it makes a better installation.

5 years and counting...installed under the console.. still looks like new....I've even run it for 6 hours straight last season when my bait pump died...

Do you have a value shutting off the route to the livewell pump when you’re using it? I’m not 100%, but it may be that the flow rate of the pump is creating enough pressure at the “y” where you’re sharing the pickup with the livewell pump that it’s pulling from both directions at that junction. Turning off the ability for it to backflow air from the livewell pump may help you at least troubleshoot the new unit.

I know you are having a air / prime problem, but by installing a small bladder (plastic one was about 60bucks) it keeps a steady pressure and stops the surging, I found when I put mine in it primed a lot easier. .
I'll take some pictures of my set up next time I go down to the boat.
