Don't know who it is or if it is one of our guys. Angler died after falling off rocks at Sachuest Point.

I think that at some point, every one of us that fished the surf
gets lulled into a false sense of safety because "we've done this a
million times". I think back on this season alone, and there were dozens of
ways to die.

Always sad to hear when someone goes.

Not that it would have helped this guy, rest in peace.
After getting knocked down at PJ out on a rock off the point, I bought a wetsuit. Doesn't make you invincible, but it does help. I always ended up wet fishing rocks anyways, sand not so much.
Fishing off ledge points is dangerous, a rogue wave is always possible and climbing back up is not always.

Not that many years ago, a chef from Brick Alley Pub drowned there while surfcasting.
