View Full Version : Shhhhh, it's a secret
Pete F. 12-16-2019, 09:50 AM I'm going to let you in on a Trumplican secret.
They are desperate to ensure Bolton, Mulvaney, etc. don't testify.
But they know if the public realizes they are hiding the witnesses, the public will think he's guilty. So the spin is Floridaman claiming he wants everyone to testify, with the qualifier of whatever they want.........
And it's only mean McConnell that doesn't want a showy trial. That is bunk.Since when does McConnell force Floridaman to do anything?
But many in the media are falling for it. So let's get this clear: Mulvaney, Bolton, hell Rudy should all testify.
If they don't, it's an admission of guilt.

Jim in CT 12-16-2019, 10:20 AM i have something that isn’t a secret...your concern isn’t Trump, your concern should be the inability of a major party to find someone after a yearslong search, who can beat a morally bankrupt pig. Dems should focus their energies there, that would
be a tad more productive.

At least you admit that you think Floridaman is a morally bankrupt pig whom you devoutly support without equal, at least on this forum.
A little review of primary history might tell a different tale than what Faux is telling you.
It's early yet, in both primaries and impeachment.

Our government has work to do on FISA in a number of branches, maybe we have to decide if we value security over privacy. Chris Wray, a Floridaman appointee is doing that right now in the FBI. And pay attention to Floridaman's BS about him. But screaming about the FBI is what the Trumplicans are hoping you do, push the conversation to the evils inflicted on Floridaman, rather than what he has done.
Michael Horowitz, demolished Floridaman’s most sensational allegations about the Russia inquiry: He concluded that the opening of the investigation was lawful and legitimate, that there was no improper “spying” on the Floridaman campaign and that the F.B.I. wasn’t part of some “deep state” conspiracy to overthrow the president. FISA has flaws that need fixing, but "deep state" claims are a dangerous distraction.
But you haven't read it and you won't, you'll just repeat Floridaman and the Trumplicans talking points.
And that gives them the tools to push baloney like this.
“I do think the big report to wait for is going to be the Durham report,” Floridaman said, once again speculating about a report that hasn’t been written. “That’s the one that people are really waiting for.”
Their ability to wreak political havoc with the latest Horowitz report is part of what has now become a clear pattern:Call for an investigation of a favorite Floridaman target; speculate about the likely outcome; seize on any collateral evidence that emerges; spin the results; then move quickly to the next investigation. Repeat. He's done it all his working life.

What you claim as facts are typically right wing media reports, that come from the Trumplican echo chamber.
Have you read the Mueller report?
Have you read the Horowitz report?
Where do your "facts" come from?
Isn't it odd that they always seem to be parsed from a report, rather than viewed as part of a whole?
It seems that the FBI and the media are together a criminal organization, in your view, Faux's and that of Floridaman.
You should read the Op-Ed by William Webster
Mr. Webster is a former federal judge and the former director of both the F.B.I. and the C.I.A.
https://www.nytimes.com/2019/12/16/opinion/FBI-Trump-russia-investigation.html
Keep in mind that after Sergei Lavrov visited the White House (again), Russian state tv ran a piece on the visit called "Puppet Master and ‘Agent’" that joked about offering Trump asylum in Russia if he loses the 2020 election.

and then....

incredibly pathetic partisan impeachment effort by the dems...

Trump textbook playbook, if I say it over and over enough it must be true. I’m certain history will not included the third president to be impeached in their list of the greatest presidents of our lifetime.
What is absolutely insane is Rudy pulling a full Mulvaney and admitting he needed to force out the ambassador as she would make it difficult to investigate the Bidens. Just the fact Trump keeps him on as his personal attorney proves how stupid he is. The three of you are small men searching for a balcony and I don’t know who to attribute that line to, but it’s a perfect fit.

That works. And given that there's a great chance that 1 or 2 democratic senators vote to acquit (from WV and Alabama I think), it saves dems from having to admit that exoneration was bipartisan.

Do you think it is appropriate to have a trial w/no witnesses?

"So you think 1 or 2 senators voting differently is bipartisan?"
Not really. But I bet if 5% of Republican house members vote to impeach, that would get spun as bipartisan. But there's not a lot of bipartisanship here, no.
"Do you think it is appropriate to have a trial w/no witnesses"
No. But if the Democrats in the House control witnesses there, the majority party of the senate should have similar authority.
He's going to get impeached. He's not going to get convicted. The only question is, will they try again before November or do they take their chances with one of their unelectable freaks currently running?

He should be impeached on the letter alone.

I find it amusing that pete and spence are actually referring to others as "nuts"...that's like "wingman" Holder calling Barr "nakedly partisan"...talk about a complete lack of self-awareness and disconnect from reality
Pete F. 12-18-2019, 06:22 AM With one simple move, Trump could wipe out both impeachment articles. By allowing Mulvaney, Pompeo and Bolton to testify, there would be no obstruction of Congress. And presumably, they could disprove abuse of power
So if he's truly innocent, ask yourself why he's not doing that

there is no obstruction of congress...that is a false charge
Representative Jared Golden (D., Maine) distanced himself from the second article of impeachment, which charges Trump with obstructing Congress, because Democrats are not waiting for court decisions over whether the White House must comply with subpoenas.

because the best way to deal with folks as loathsome and deranged as the democrats is to not cooperate with them...they've demonstrated that they are criminally dishonest and cannot be trusted in ANYTHING...regardless of what the testimony may be the democrats and media will create an alternative narrative...it's just that simple...see you in court stupid ...if it makes you feel better you can continue to believe it is an admission of guilt:huh:

The sad fact is you can replace this with GOP instead of democrats and the rights ballwashing of Trump because of the fear of being primaries...

So, you don't think that there is significant fear from Republicans in Congress to not go against Trump for fear of being challenged by a far-right candidate? They remain very fearful of losing the Trump faithful.

no

Then we will agree to disagree on that.

Got Stripers 12-18-2019, 08:02 AM I know that if Hillary had won and everything else played out exactly the same the right wouldn’t be using the term hoax or witch hunt, want to suggest you wouldn’t be pushing hard for removal, that should be an interesting argument. It’s politics I get it, but let’s not pretend what Trump and his band of bumbling lieutenants tried to pull off was perfectly acceptable and not in violation of the constitution. If it were Hillary I suspect impeachment may have commenced right after a similar mueller report.

Pete F. 12-18-2019, 10:43 AM If you don't think Trump feels anything, read his letter to Nancy Pelosi. It's an utterly desperate cry to be excused for a life of lies and hatred -- for being every bit as evil as he has always deeply if unconsciously believed himself to be.

Trump should just confess about the bribery, said it's how he was taught to live by a father who didn't love him. Then sit down with a room of kids and read the Grinch who Stole Christmas with a little Cindy Lou Hoo on his lap.
Impeachment cancelled.

...And less of this here
Pete F. 12-18-2019, 12:26 PM When Nixon is less of an obstructionist, that says a lot
Nixon on Apr. 17, 1973: “All members of the White House staff will appear voluntarily when, requested by the committee. They will testify under oath, and they will answer fully all proper questions”

It speaks volumes PeteF. I am certain this will lead to impeachment.
