nightfighter 02-06-2020, 07:12 AM Once again, I will be voting against a candidate in a presidential election....
I do not see the candidate I want to back however...
Both sides in the impeachment argued like ten year olds…. Pathetic.
Like Romney, I am there for 80% of policy, but cannot ignore the rest of the picture....
And the following tweet, issued AFTER the acquittal vote, solidified my utter disgust with this man.... https://twitter.com/realdonaldtrump/status/1225174713992990721

nightfighter 02-06-2020, 07:25 AM Not from my experience, Ronnie. That would have been Reagan, by a long shot. And unlike now, my life was vastly improved after that administration's first three plus years.... Not the case today.
Note; I am not going to call you names, nor say your view is right or wrong. Simply presenting my past and current experiences.

Ross you are in the wrong place if you think names and insults don’t come your way if you disagree with their views, you possibly will be spared as you aren’t a regular. The bar for greatness, for civility, for right not wrong and adherence to laws has been set so low, it’s really amazing at times.
There is no acceptance here that we all have a right to our views of this administration and when we express our disgust over what we see as wrong, the band of bullies bring insults, even going so far as to involve your family members. In a forum like this it’s easy to act that way as there are no immediate consequences, no penalty for ones actions, it’s not unlike the bullying children are subject to on social media. I don’t loose sleep over it, it’s more of a commentary on their characters and that crap rolls right off my back.
Take away the phones, the internet and put those same remarks in someone’s face and the consequences are usually immediate and might have you looking up at blue sky from your backside.
I to voted last time against this con man and viewed him just like all the republican hypocrites voiced so passionately when running against him and will again. Go back and listen to the 2015/2016 videos of Graham, Cruz, Romney and others when describing Trump to a tea and look at them now, only one has a pair.
SD and his side kicks can now had their two cents.

I won't vote against him. My Line That Won't Be Crossed (1A/2A) is under far greater threat from Socialist/Dems than my severe disdain for Trump.
The politics and reactions of both sides have been abhorrent. Our country is sick and neither side is capable of healing it.

Excellent point about finding another with 80% parallel position, Don. As is second amendment.
However, I fear we may look back at this period and say, "what the hell were you/we thinking? How could you not see this developing?" History will be the judge, but the man's personal characteristics and lack of morals are too dangerous to ignore, never mind him being in the penultimate office of the land.
It should be up to his supporters to demand some change in his MO. Otherwise he continues to just be empowered to tweet and destroy any and all who cross him....

This is an inkling, re Stone and so much more (Ukraine, Flynn, Mueller . . . ) of more to come to make Spence's narrative as wrong as it has been all along:

Pete F. 02-12-2020, 08:15 AM Barr’s manifest interference in these cases—which Floridaman, who appointed him, is celebrating this morning—was started by the sudden shuttering of the special counsel’s office shortly after his confirmation and the transfer of its ongoing matters to US Attorneys’ offices.
Those transfers meant, for the Flynn and Stone cases, the DC US Attorney Jessie Liu stood in the shoes of Robert Mueller.
In recent days, Trump replaced Liu with one of Barr’s lackeys, initially promising her a Treasury job, and then unceremoniously dumping her.
Mueller documented all the ways Trump tried to fire him and damage his prosecutions when he was still on the job, and the WH aides that stood up to him.
Mueller’s successor actually was fired here, Mueller’s cases were damaged, and all the line prosecutors could do is resign.

Spence, et. al., having been jumping the gun for the past three or four years, sopping up fake MSM news that has been wrong or misleading. There will be much more coming out that proves them wrong again (and again).
This is an inkling, re Stone and so much more (Ukraine, Flynn, Mueller . . . ) of more to come to make Spence's narrative as wrong as it has been all along:

Pete F. 02-12-2020, 08:32 AM Had Trump and his goons forced out Mueller and scuttled his prosecutions, it would’ve been a top level crisis. The same should be true for the people finishing his work.
It’s also a reminder that we never learned why Mueller closed his office so suddenly with so much left to do.
I think, in any congressional hearings that result from this, that has to be a key question now. Mueller and his people should come back to the Hill without a bunch of absurd prenegotiated restrictions and be candid about what happened to them under Whitaker and Barr.

meanwhile...a communist is the democrat frontrunner
Actually he's a Democratic Socialist and every bit as much of a Communist as Floridaman is a Nazi.
Floridaman's end results will be the same as Bernie's
Floridaman claimed that tariffs are “the greatest,” and trade wars are “easy to win,” but the economic backlash was easy to foresee. The political success of Bernie brought “democratic socialism” to 30% of the Democratic Party, Floridaman’s economic nationalism will end up at the same destination for all.
Floridaman’s tariffs enable him to directly pick winners and losers in the economy. The interests of steel workers are being placed above the interest of consumers and farmers. This leads to Floridaman using tax dollars to prop up farmers. Of course this spending means that consumers are hit, with their tax dollars paying for Floridaman's new welfare program. Floridaman's welfare goes to large corporate farms, he's losing support from the little guys. Probably things will trickle down to them.
Floridaman's tariffs cause businesses to seek ways around them, like Harley moving some manufacturing to Europe. This pissed off Floridaman. The more Floridaman digs in to protectionism, the more he will interfere with individual companies.
The domestic policy of government interference with business is a necessary corollary of present-day protectionism.
The result is an economy that increasingly replaces the market with state control.
Floridaman's policies are just as great a long term threat to the American economy as that posed by the Sanderistas.
detbuch 02-12-2020, 11:22 AM Floridaman's policies are just as great a long term threat to the American economy as that posed by the Sanderistas.
Floridaman's policies are not long term. Trade wars are not meant to last long term. They are meant to resolve trade issues in the short term.
Before the Floridaman, we had the stagnant NewNormalman who resolved to continue the managed decline of America in the face of a presumed inevitable rise of China to replace us as the dominant world economic power which would take our place and replace the dollar as the primary world currency with its own Yuan.
Apparently, protectionism in other countries, at the expense of the U.S., didn't suffer the consequences in some of those countries that you say it should. But, it is likely, that if the U.S. decides not to be the patsy anymore, then that foreign protectionism will collapse, as you say it should. Ergo, the need for the U.S. to fight back, not by military war, but economic war.
Some of the Trade policies that hurt us pre-Floridaman have been peacefully negotiated (NAFTA, Japan, SKorea). Britain is coming up. China is in the works. Our economy is in fine shape. The new trade relationships should help to keep it that way.
If that all falls apart, it was heading into crap anyway.
Pete F. 02-12-2020, 11:55 AM If that all falls apart, it was heading into crap anyway.

Here's the answer: Stone was convicted by a jury of his peers in a Federal Court of 7 felonies with a maximum sentence of 50 years. He lied, obstructed Congress and threatened a witness against him. 9 years is fair, within the sentencing guidelines and deserved.
Now we should ask why Floridaman doesn't understand that.

Apparently, he understands more than the swampmen who have been wrong about "obstruction" and "collusion" and "abuse of power" and the collapse of the economy and are in cahoots with the lying leftist politicians.
The DOJ had already concluded that the sentencing was too harsh before Trump said anything. But the swampment had to create yet another fiction by saying that Trump corruptly influenced them.
