40 years ago.... Great achievement, if not THE greatest sporting moment.

And I missed it.. Was captaining a Frers 46 in the 1980 SORC to a second place finish by just a quarter point.... When I called home from Grand Bahama, my mother was the ultimate buzz kill, telling me about the American hockey victory and saying only two hundred people even knew what I was even doing! Yup. Didn't get it at the time, but put it in perspective...:fury:
At least we were flying the right colors.

I was watching it with my Dad at home. It was amazing

school just a bit south of there, should have gone up to watch

I was coming in from playing hockey on the Mother Brook ice with friends, finding out the USA had one and my grandfather had died.

I had just moved to Easton MA ,Jim Craig’s home town. Became to the schools in the coming weeks to show off the medal.
