View Full Version : Ma to R.I. launching boat
clambo 04-09-2020, 02:22 PM Just spoke to DEM to see if I could drive to a ramp to launch my boat, fish and then load boat on trailer and go home. I was told that I would have to quarantine for 14 days. Wow it's not like I would stay overnight, this is getting like an alternate reality!
wdmso 04-09-2020, 02:37 PM What if you put in Ma and fished in Ri and go back to ma?

clambo 04-09-2020, 03:35 PM wdmso Not sure just E-Mailed Governors office to clarify , we'll see what they say. This makes no sense to me. If I drive to Pawtucket to order take out do I have to quarantine for 14 days also?
Guppy 04-09-2020, 04:18 PM Im not asking....
redlite 04-09-2020, 04:30 PM Past couple of days both boat ramps in Westport ( Hixbridge and 88) whole parking lots were all cordoned off Barrels and tape gone today

bobber 04-09-2020, 04:38 PM many states are stopping cars trailering boats from outta states- Delaware is mandating people stay confined for 14 days upon entering the states. hope you can stay for a while and fish
NY closed all ramps and marinas

Clammer 04-09-2020, 09:35 PM I think maybe NY should in the shape they are in /making exceptions for commercials <>
wdmso 04-10-2020, 06:37 AM the seahunt page on FB many in Fla are saying the ramps are closed as well not sure about marinas
JohnR 04-10-2020, 07:18 AM Launch in Mass, fish RI. Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.
l.i.fish.in.vt 04-11-2020, 05:00 PM maybe do what any person with a half of brain would do ,stay home.
clambo 04-12-2020, 07:22 AM Are you saying that those of us that want to fish have half a brain because we want to fish? My wife is a charge nurse in an emergency room, and I believe we are well versed in the protocols regarding coronavirus. The risk is substantially less than going to the supermarket. Wash your hands, don't share gear, wear mask if you feel you need to. Many people are terrified of this virus due to the press coverage. If you are fearful then by all means stay home but don't accuse those of us that want to fish as having half a brain. In fact we have thought this out. Do whats good for you
JohnR 04-12-2020, 08:39 AM This brings up an interesting dilemma - half the people that think they have a brain, don't.
The people that are smart enough (and are adhering to guidelines) are keeping distant to curb spread. But we can do that without being locked down.
Problem is a sizeable amount of people were saying effit to the rules, or it is some vast conspiracy.
Can we get a COVID competency card?
l.i.fish.in.vt 04-12-2020, 11:35 AM believe me i want to fish and i want to ski as we still have plenty of snow on the mountain, but staying at home is what i am doing.what happens when your trailer blows a tire,or your boat doesnt start back up,hope your wife doesnt have to deal with some who thinks they above the orders and gets hurt
l.i.fish.in.vt 04-12-2020, 11:48 AM and "do what is good for you" is a very selfish way of looking at things,
clambo 04-12-2020, 12:44 PM Do you go out to get food? what if your car gets a flat tire or won't start? Protocals for shelter in place are to stop groups of people from congregating in one place. In R.I that's more than 5, 3 people in boat does not qualify! Home Depot limits the number of people inside to what is believed to be safe. Every time you leave the house there is risk, I make decisions based on risk every day. So in your view that is selfish?
clambo 04-12-2020, 12:58 PM Well said JohnR, I have no intention of putting anyone at risk. In fla. Many people had a type of aquapalloza at a sandbar. They were congregating in large numbers. State closed the ramps. State park ramps in R.I. are closed , others are open. Ma. seem to be opening soon. They are opening so they can be used. I don't know of any use other than launching a boat. I don't think it matters if you fish or go for a ride. Amount of contact with others remains the same low risk
Got Stripers 04-12-2020, 01:00 PM I have no issue taking my kayak to a local pond, no ramp, no adjacent cars, isolation and peace for a few hours this morning. Couple decent smallies and I always enjoy watching the bald eagles that nest on a small island in the middle of this pond.
Guppy 04-12-2020, 03:15 PM Super markets scare me,,, empty boat ramps make my day.
Lookin good Bob, great morning hey?

You must be happy to have gotten your ride back together, the joy of boat ownership, but out on the water it all seems worth the effort.
Clammer 04-12-2020, 06:12 PM :kewl:Ray I figured with all the work you did on it .you would have added a spot-lock system to it .
never anchor again or hold place when plugging a shoreline .
I watched OTW latest this morning
.they gave a setup away & rigged it on the guys boats the then when out with him .
If I was Wayne & do the kind of fishing I do it would be a no brainer ><<> :lasso:
scottw 04-13-2020, 02:42 AM Do you go out to get food?
I had to go the other day...I hate the grocery store when there isn't a pandemic so this was extra special....a guy and his wife were wandering around together, she had no mask, he had one but was wearing it on the top of his head like a hat....maybe he was trying to keep his brain from getting infected....another woman had a mask-and a helmet....I understood the mask...still don't get the helmet, doubt she was riding a bike, maybe prepared for a tp battle if one erupted....drove through three towns, actually 4 locally the other day along the shore...two were locked down like police states, concrete barriers across beach lots with police cars sitting across the road...lot's of yellow tape and even big tires chained together and placed across even the entrances to shore access that I thought might be overlooked....you can't get near the water without a long walk....but next town over beaches open, other shore access open, no yellow tape no chained tires and police cars etc...of course that doesn't mean they won't come get you if they see you I guess...need to check the town websites for info...

bobber 04-15-2020, 09:57 PM I work in the ER-
going to the grocery store makes me more nervous than anything else
scottw 04-16-2020, 05:37 AM going to the grocery store makes me more nervous than anything else
yup
they did open one of the saturday farmers markets last saturday in nwpt....hoping for more of that, there is a good one right down the street from me......continue to see the people who are in the highest risk categories that are out and about completely ignoring any sort of caution...but I guess that's how one might have ended up in a high risk category to begin with....read that obesity was the #1 contributing factor to hospitalization/a bad outcome for New York's population
Sea Dangles 04-16-2020, 07:52 AM I am driving to low risk markets when shopping. Avoid the hot spots

Clammer 04-19-2020, 06:45 PM Bob .

besides being a fish catcher .its a potential life saver & differently life extender..:uhuh:
piemma 04-21-2020, 06:00 AM I'm back working but extremely low risk. I mow fairways on a BIG GC. The only risk I have is falling off my big diesel mowing machine. :laughs::laughs::laughs:
