View Full Version : added credibility to Bidens accuser?
Jim in CT 04-24-2020, 08:23 PM Waaay back in 1993, a woman called the Larry King show, said her daughter had a problem with a US Senator, and was looking for someone to turn to for help, she didn't want to go to the press.
The caller was the mother of Tara Reade. Tara Reade is the one who says Biden sexually assaulted her. The caller made no reference whatsoever to a sexual issue, just a problem.
For Kavanaugh, the accusation was enough. All of a sudden, democrats remembered the concept of innocent until prove guilty.
i don't like decades-old accusations, I wouldnt say Biden should step aside by any means. But I said the same thing about Kavanaugh. The left has flip-flopped 180 ndegrees.

the last thread was before we knew that her mom called into larry king back when it happened, which sure isnt proof behind a reasonable doubt, but for sure it means it’s more credible than the accusation against kavanaugh ever was. the media won’t touch it, neither will the libs here.
how about you leave the kids alone who have other things to do, and answer this question..::
on what basis would anyone who felt kavanaugh should have withdrawn, not say the same thing about Biden?
and if you think the media isn’t in the tank for the DNC, compare the way they covered the kavanaugh story to this. “enemy of the people” isn’t that far off. not anymore. they have trampled on the constitutional protections we have provided.

well, you avoided the topic and did something to the effect that there has been a thread, then avoided it further by requesting that the moderators moderate.
so you posted here twice about subjects not related to the thread. i merely pointed that out. if providing a re-cap of what you did is insulting to you, then i suggest perhaps acting in a manner in which seeing an accurate summary of your actions, doesn’t bother you.

three posts by you which dont respond in any way, to the thread.
do you have anything whatsoever to say, about the apparent difference in the coverage and reactions to the allegations against biden, to those of the allegations against Kavanaugh?
there is more evidence, not the same, not less, to support the accusations against biden. Hell, maybe Biden’s last 10 interviews have all been a ruse to lay the groundwork for an insanity defense in the criminal probe against him. that would explain his sudden and obvious senility and inability to string two sentences together.
doesn’t quite explain his graduating 76th out of a class of 85 and claiming he was in the middle of his class, but let’s just conclude math isn’t his strong suit. either that or honesty.

Compare Reade's allegations against Biden where she has changed her story vs. Ford whose story didn't change. There were numerous witnesses that wanted to testify/talk to the FBI that where never contacted.
Either way, Trump, Biden and Kavanaugh accusers should all have been given a change to confront them, with witnesses, etc.

No offense, but when I say "liberal reaction to the Biden accusations", I don't mean you, one guy on a fishing site. I mean politicians, cable hosts, his potential running mates. I mean the unprincipled jerks who were convinced of Kavanaughs guilt and saying he should get voted down, but have nothing to say now with Biden, where there is far more supporting evidence.
I don't think Biden should step aside unless it's proven, but I said the same thing about Kavanaugh. The liberal hypocrisy here is amazing. Amazing that they don't expect to get called on it.

Pete F. 04-29-2020, 09:23 AM Wonder why the Trump* media is now going after Biden on this, after they failed with Ukraine, Hunter and there are 35+ allegations of rape against Trump*.
55% of Americans disapprove of Trump's handling of coronavirus, a 6 point *jump* in the last month. Only 44% approve.
By 55-40, they prefer Biden over Trump on coronavirus
By 51-44, they prefer Biden to Trump on the economy (really big)
Currently Trump* is arguing in court that he should not have to give a DNA sample in one case, since he is too busy.
Obtaining a DNA sample is less intrusive that a Covid-19 test that he claims he has done regularly and also uses a swab.
It would only take a couple of minutes.
As far as Tara Reade goes
The Statute ran out so it won't get an official investigation which it would have had she come out in 2009.
But she was to busy praising Joe from 2003 to 2017.
It’s being reported in the media that “her mother called a radio station” no, some unnamed woman did & talked about a “problem with a senator”.
Her mother isn’t alive to say, Biden was VP & on the ticket twice & this never came up? I call BS.
I believe Tara Reade’s allegations need to be investigated thoroughly and fairly. But I certainly do not believe her automatically. Where is the justice in that?
I also believe the allegations against Trump and Kavanaugh should have been investigated in the same way. They were not.
The hard part is under what legal premise should any of them be investigated, of the three only Trump is facing possible criminal charges.
Other than that they all boil down to she said-he denied and there is no way to compel testimony.
But there is one video.

Let's be very clear, I agree it's he said/she said, and to me, that's not enough. One more time, I don't think Biden should have to step down.
However, YOUR SIDE was quite satisfied that "he said - she said" was more than enough, when it came to Kavanaugh. I'd love to hear an explanation from you, as to why an accusation alone was enough for liberals to treat Kavanaugh as if he was guilty, but suddenly it's not enough to conclude Biden is guilty. What's the difference?
During the Kavanaugh hearings, Biden himself said it was our duty to assume these women are telling the truth. Is there any reason why that should only apply to Republicans?
This isn't about Biden. It's about the entire democratic world pivoting 180 degrees from what they were saying with Kavanaugh. As always, they want it both ways.
"Jim you can call it. Liberal hypocrisy'
What else would you call it? By what possible logic cam liberals say an accusation was enough to doom Kavanaugh, but not enough to doom Biden?
How can you spin this any other way?
zimmy 04-29-2020, 11:29 AM Among the lurid details of the lawsuit, Jane Doe alleged Trump tied her to a bed, "forcibly raped" her and threatened her and her family with physical harm, if not death, if she told anyone about the assault. SO do we assume that an accusation means guilt? Or do we only assume that for Republicans? We need a standard, and it needs to be applied consistently. Is that asking too much?

Biden's accuser filed criminal charges. Filing charges that you know are false, is a crime. Does that count?
Pete F. 04-29-2020, 02:01 PM Ms Reade filed a criminal complaint on 9 April 2020 with police, saying she was a victim of sexual assault but did not name Mr Biden.
She said in a tweet that she filed the complaint "for safety reasons only", as the statute of limitations for her claim have expired and she had begun to receive online threats.
One of Trump*s 35+ cases is currently in court.
Donald Trump has been credibly accused of rape. His co-defendant in one case died mysteriously in jail. Many, many women have come forward to say that he harassed and assaulted them. Those allegations are another thing that everybody knows. And yet.

Biden has, what, 7 accusers?
Again, let's establish a reasonable standard, and apply it consistently. I can live with that. But if the standard is that accusations are enough, no one will be able to run for anything.
The standard needs to be more than a mere accusation. But a mere accusation, was enough for democrats and the media to sink Kavanaugh. That's why the reaction to Biden is such a joke. In no time at all, it went from "believe all women", to "innocent until proven guilty".
"And yet"
I don't think most people who side with Trump on the accusations, are holding Biden to a different standard. We are pointing out that all the democrats who said Kavanaugh was unfit, should be saying that Biden is unfit. Because everyone who was opposed to Kavanaugh's confirmation, was saying that an accusation was enough.
I don't think an accusation is nearly enough. Not enough to sink Trump, Kavanaugh, or Biden.
I don't think many Republicans are saying Biden should step down. I think we are saying that democrats should be demanding that Biden step down, using the same standard they applied to Kavanaugh.
Pete F. 04-29-2020, 05:52 PM Accusations of what crime?
Just what did the other women accuse Biden of?
List them and their accusations.
I'll list Trump*s 35 and theirs.
There is so much smoke around Trump* that you know there is a fire unless you are so deeply buried in the Trump* narrative that if you concede your only choice is suicide.
As far as Kavanaugh goes, he's the guy who wanted to question Clinton in public about every single detail of his alleged sexual affair(s) but squealed like a stuck pig when anyone asked about his life. And no, his was not investigated. And yes, he is on the Supreme Court for life.
detbuch 04-29-2020, 06:21 PM Jim, do you notice how Pete F does his often used thread hijack trick in order to rag on Trump? He makes absolutely no attempt to address your thesis in this thread, the hypocrisy of the Dems in how they react to the Biden thing vs how they did with Kavanaugh, but jumps straightway to Trump is a bad guy. Saturday-Night-like comedy.
On this one, I definitely think the dems should ask Biden to step aside. There’s still time to get someone else (younger) and less sleazy. There are a lot of accusers, and these accusations take away much of Biden’s credibility and appeal to female voters.

Pete F. 04-30-2020, 07:46 AM Biden has, what, 7 accusers?
Accusations of what crime?
Just what did the other women accuse Biden of?
List them and their accusations.
I'll list Trump*s 35 and theirs.
There is so much smoke around Trump* that you know there is a fire unless you are so deeply buried in the Trump* narrative that if you concede your only choice is suicide.
As far as Kavanaugh goes, he's the guy who wanted to question Clinton in public about every single detail of his alleged sexual affair(s) but squealed like a stuck pig when anyone asked about his life. And no, his was not investigated. And yes, he is on the Supreme Court for life.
So apparently you were lying about "Biden has, what, 7 accusers?"

He's not interested in that. His basic interest, as I think he once stated in other words, is to expose for us all the danger of Trump. Since there is still resistance to his opinion on that, he has to keep us all focused on the danger. So he can't leave much space for discussions of other topics which distract us from the only relevant and important thing in our time--what little is left of it if we continue to remain ignorant of the terrible destruction that is daily, hour by hour, minute by minute being wrought on the very fiber of our national and political existence by this illegitimate fakery of a President who must be stopped before he can be re-elected. Pete F has to speak and filibuster in a way that figuratively grabs us by our lapels and shakes sense into our stubborn, ignorant heads--while there is still time.

What Pete F doesn't get when he whatabouts Trump is that Republicans don't hold to the standard that the woman must be believed. So it's ignorant to point out that you didn't say anything about Trump. It's a Democrat standard--which, as you say, they only apply to Republicans. Which makes them hypocrites.
Although, they may be feeling the pressure from being too obvious now with Biden. So they may start making him feel the heat. Also, that could be an excuse to replace him on the ticket with a better candidate.
And, anyway, I don't think Pete even considers the point and subject of the thread. He would make it about Trump regardless. He's on a mission.

This comes after Joe Biden ask for all records to be released immediately.
The FBI was informed of allegations that Kavanaugh, while drunk during his freshman year at Yale, exposed himself to two heavily intoxicated female classmates on separate occasions. The bureau did not interview more than a dozen people who said they could provide information about the incidents.
One of the accounts, reported by Deborah Ramirez, was made public at the time of Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings. The other, not publicly known until this weekend, was reported by a male classmate who said he witnessed the incident. He unsuccessfully sought to get the FBI to investigate with help from a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee who asked FBI Director Christopher A. Wray to look into the allegation.

Pete F. 05-02-2020, 09:51 PM Your not getting it. It's not about what Biden does or doesn't. It's about the Dems not all saying they believe the woman.
But that is not what was said and Trumplicans trying to make it into something it is not is what is happening.
In 2018, when Trump*s Supreme Court pick Brett M. Kavanaugh was being accused of sexual assault, Biden said this: “For a woman to come forward in the glaring lights of focus, nationally, you’ve got to start off with the presumption that at least the essence of what she’s talking about is real.”
Hypocrisy is ignoring the vast number of women who have come forward with complaints and lawsuits regarding Trump* and not also asking for those to be investigated.
Can you imagine if Biden called her a liar? Or a dog??
How many issues did Trump and Pecker kill with money and NDAs?
How many settlements does Trump* have with non disclosure agreements signed. Will he be willing to be transparent? No, he hides everything because he a vile weak little man.
Maybe we should focus on the guy already in office. If Biden can’t be president because of 1 sketchy at best allegation, Trump* should resign because of the 23 or so sexual misconduct charges filed against him.
Trump*, arbiter of predation, said he found sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden “convincing” and speculated that the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee may face even more accusations.
In another statement he said “You know I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the pussy. You can do anything.”

In other words, you've got to start off presuming that she is telling the truth. You said exact words matter. I presume that in your world presuming is not believing--that they're two different words so they must mean different things.
But they do share a certain "essence." And the other Dems did actually use the exact word "believe." And they were presuming and believing that Kavanaugh was guilty before any investigation and seem to still presume/believe he is.
So in "essence" they believed her. And they were vociferous about their belief/presumption.
BTW--a small matter to you no doubt--but, ironically (I presume Biden knew this), that presuming business does actually apply to the accused, by law, not to the accuser. In America we say (or we used to say) that the accused is presumed to be innocent until proven guilty, not that the accuser is presumed, in some essential way, to be right . The Dems certainly are affording Biden the benefit of that. They didn't, in essence, want to give Kavanaugh that benefit.
Jim in CT 05-03-2020, 06:25 AM There is no hypocrisy. Biden has shown respect for his accuser, .
but “respect the accuser” wasn’t the democrat slogan for Kavanaugh- it was believe the accuser.
Are you under the impression that ‘respect’ and ‘believe’ are synonymous? Because they are not. Not even close.
Biden is opposing the release of documents from the university of deleware. even msnbc asked him about that. you keep ignoring that inconvenient fact.

Pete F. 05-04-2020, 09:05 AM In other words, you've got to start off presuming that she is telling the truth.

Pete F. 05-04-2020, 11:22 AM In the Kavanaugh hearings, Democrats believed that he was possibly tainted enough so that he should not receive a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land and wanted it to be investigated.
When allegations of sexual assault are made by a woman they should be taken seriously & investigated. This is true for the allegations against Biden, but also for the 20+ women who’ve come forward with credible allegations of assault by Trump. The same standards must be used.
Now what about that Trump* DNA sample?

They postponed the confirmation for a week or ten days, and did an investigation. Not sure what you're referring to when you say there was no investigation.
In any event, the liberal mantra then, was that investigation or no, the accuser was to be believed. Who on the left says they believe Reade?

The investigation was a sham and people who said they have pertinent information never were investigated by the FBI. The liberal media is the one who broke the story. It's the height of hypocrisy to expect the Democrats to do something that the Republicans refuse to do and to try to hold them to a different standard that the Republicans were held. Despite the fact that this accuser has a ton more corroborating evidence, and unlike Kavanaughs accuser (who admitted she hated the thought of a conservative being on the bench), Reade is a democrat who worked for Biden, and therefore cannot be accused of being driven by partisanship.
Despite all that, the "believe all women" bullsh*t went the way of the dodo pretty quick.

Your posts here consisted of one laughably idiotic dodge after another on the issue of liberal hypocrisy. Frustrated from getting annihilated on that issue, you let fly with the word "retard", which is as disgusting to anyone with any empathy, as the n-word.
Backed further into a corner from which you can't begin to escape, you say I'm angry. I'll admit I don't like the word retard. But this has revealed a lot more about you than it ever will me.
And I asked when Trump made fun of the people you call retards. You dodged, and called me angry.
I'll assume (could be wrong) you're referring to the liberal claim that he made fun of a disabled reporter, which no one would think is beyond him. However, there is actual video evidence of him using those same stupid physical gestures to make fun of someone else who wasn't disabled, so there's every reason to believe he just makes those gestures to demean anyone who doesn't kiss his ring. but your side ran with the "he made fun of the disabled" claim, even though Obama very explicitly made fun of disabled people and no one cared.

As I said, and as rational people already know, there is video evidence to suggest that Trump's mocking the reporter (who didn't have any mental limitations, so I can't imagine why you brought 'retard' into it, I suppose you just have some latent hostility towards them) had nothing whatsoever to do with the reporter's challenges. And since I said that Trump's mocking the guy was juvenile and stupid, no one here can fathom why you are calling me a Trumplican. But I only criticize him for stuff he actually says and does, I don't have a compulsion to fabricate things to accuse him of. Which in your mind, makes me a Trumplican.

Which level are you referring to? Insulting people with Downs, or tattling to the moderators? Because as far as I can see, he has the distinction of being the only one to stoop to both of those levels.
Again, that's what the D stands for, in TDS. I think they see the likelihood of re-election (which I still don't think is as likely as I wish it were) and it broke their brains.
PaulS 05-04-2020, 06:30 PM So you have more problems with me using what Trump did than with Trump and what he actually did and you voted for Trump on top of it? You hypocrite.

(1) for the third time, please show me where Trump ever made fun of people with Downs Syndrome.
(2) even if he did do it, does that mean it's OK for you to do it? Maybe we can raise the bar?
(3) I did vote for Trump, as you voted for Obama, after Obama very explicitly made fun of people with Down's. Here's the difference between you and me. I can say (because it's true) that I voted for Trump, even though he does things that I think are disgusting. You can't bring yourself to say that about Obama. Even in this case about making fun of people with Downs (assuming Trump did it, which you refuse to provide evidence of), you justify Obama's making fun of them. You can't just say it was a horrible thing to say. You literally are incapable of it. it's bad when anyone makes fun of those people. It's bad when Obama did it, and if Trump did it (big if), it's just as bad. You give Obama a pass, because you like him.
'Youre a classy guy"
I never said I was. I don't consider myself especially classy. But I calls 'em like I sees 'em, and you are presenting yourself lately as a bratty little girl who will say absolutely anything to avoid any criticism of anyone with a D after their name. I have never, ever heard anyone suggest that using deeply offensive words is acceptable and non-offensive, as long as you are using them to make fun of Trump. Or in Obama's case, making fun of himself. Where did you come up with that stupidity? Where is the logic? You're saying that if I insult myself using the n* word, no one should be offended by that? Or do only liberals get such blanket immunity?
And i'm classy enough to never, ever use that word the way you did.

And which of your relatives would you be willing to sacrifice to open the economy?
At 3000 deaths a day, it will come close to home for most of us.
Just WHO is your 401K worth to you?

We'd save lives if we made the speed limit 5mph, but we don't do that. How come?
"At 3000 deaths a day"
Interesting math. How long has the virus been here? 80 days? More? And we're at 67,000 deaths? I mean, we all know that math isn't liberals' strong suit, but that's some creative, far-fetched math even for a liberal. Which is less than a bad flu season, and we don't destroy the national economy every flu season.
I'm not saying for sure I think we over-reacted. And hindsight is always 20-20. But you can make a case that we didn't need to do this. Look at Sweden, Taiwan, etc...
'Just WHO is your 401K worth to you?'
Look d*ckhead, you asked me if I'm better off today than I was in January of 2017, I said I was, and I provided support, like my 401k and 529 plans being up. You didn't like my answer, and you couldn't think of a sensible response (because there isn't one), so you moved the goalposts and somehow conclude that because I'm happy my 401k is up, somehow that means I don't care about people. Wanting to retire comfortably, and caring for people, aren't mutually exclusive. Are they? I don't see why they would be, but I'm sure you have an answer that's just full of common sense. Please share.

As you were told, it was a self deprecating comment - meaning he was attempting to make a joke at his own expense. Obama made a poor joke and then apologized. There is no comparison between what Obama did and what Trump did - even ignoring the many, many other times Trump mocks people. Obama didn't do that.

Jim in CT 05-05-2020, 08:38 AM Based on the classlessness of this Pres. So what was he doing on stage mocking the reporter?
As he often does, he was mocking a guy who was critical of him. A guy who has no intellectual disabilities as far as we know.
Paul, obviously you are part of the group who thinks the president's gestures were making fun of the guys physical challenges. I also assumed that back then, and I reacted the same way you did.
But as is sometimes the case, there's more to that. There was older video of Trump making the same physical gestures, to make fun of someone else who mocked him, and that person had no disabilities. So it's very possible (that for whatever awful reason), Trump uses that twitching motion to mock anyone who disagrees with him. He may well not have even known the guy was disabled.
Your side always leaves that part out. Because the goal is to demonize him as much as possible, not to judge him truthfully.
Again, you used the word 'retard', you admitted the reporter has no intellectual disabilities, you admitted Trump never used that word. End of that story.
Jim in CT 05-05-2020, 08:42 AM As you were told, it was a self deprecating comment - meaning he was attempting to make a joke at his own expense. .

I am the worlds worst dancer - the worst. The absolute worst on the planet. If I make a joke at my own expense, saying "no one will ever say I dance as well as a n*gger", using YOUR LOGIC, no one should be offended by that, because I was being self deprecating? You stand by that? Or do you see how unbelievably stupid your logic is?
And what Obama said is worse. Because he wasn't just making fun of himself, he was also making fun of the inability of Special Olympians to bowl better than he does. When in fact, they bowl much better than he does.

You're giving him more credit than he deserves. It is not a coincidence he mocked someone who had a handicap and I am sure since he knew the reporter enough to mock him, Pres. Trump knew what disabilities he has. And for him to mock him, is wrong. It is not the same as an attempt at a self deprecating joke as Pres. Trump would ever try that bc he is too vain. And Obama apologized for it.

You're trying to waive it away by saying he made the same motions before 1 time while ignoring the hundreds (thousands) of times he insulted others w/o making that motion. If you had 000s of data points in an actuarial review and one outlier, you would ignore the outlier - not the 000s of data points. I just read the other times that Trump waived his arms around like that the contortions where not the same and the arms movements, spasms and contortions where totally different (mocking the reporters curl of the right hand and wrist). Ann Coulter wrote in her book that Trump was not making fun of the reporter but rather "was dong a standard retard, waving his arms and sounding stupid". In addition, before the mocking, Trump said "You've got to see this guy". The reporter previously covered him and said they were on a first name basis.

On this thread, Paul used the word "retard" for absolutely no conceivable reason.
He accused Trump of mocking those people, and when I asked for examples, he came up with Trump mocking a guy who has no intellectual issues. He admitted Trump hasn't made fun of those people, but he thinks he's capable of it, therefore that's the same as if he actually did it.
As wrong as Paul claims it would be to make fun of such people, he defended Obama doing exactly that, because Obama was making fun of himself at the same time (as if that's an excuse for using hate speech).
Paul claimed he didn't tattle to the mods, but rather, he alerted them to the behavior of others which he thinks violated the rules. Because that's so much different from "tattling".
He calls me a Trumplican even though several times I criticized Trump harshly.
And finally, he (like the rest of you) can't concede that liberals are holding Biden's accuser to a very different standard than they help Kavanaugh's accuser to.
When I act that irrationally, you let me know, and I'll go get a cat scan.
Jim in CT 05-05-2020, 11:50 AM FFS as Ann said,, he was doing the half retard. That is what I used to see people doing when they were 10 years old. So your contention is that he wasn't doing the Retard but the spazz?

Why are you ignoring my question whether he was doing the retard or the spazz?
As to your question, what I know for a fact was in his vindictive and obnoxious way, Trump was making fin of a guy who criticized him. He made fun of him in a way that he had made fun of another guy in the past suggesting that his choice of mockery wasn't necessarily related to this guy's condition. If you read Ann Coulters's article, instead of just the sentence that suited your needs, you'd see she was making the same argument I'm making, but she used hateful language to do so. Hateful language that you embraced.
I answered your question. Any chance you can show me the same courtesy? using your logic, can I assume it's OK if I use the n-word while making fun of myself? If not, please explain the difference between that, and your defense of what Obama did.
It must be exhausting to have to get so creative, vague, and evasive, instead of simply answering questions and - god forbid - admitting someone else is right once in awhile.
PaulS 05-05-2020, 12:30 PM It is not believable to me that you believe Trump did not make fun of the reporter by imitating and mocking his movements - whether they were as a result of a physical or some type of mental disability. And for that reason, I think you have no credibility (and TDS).
How low we have fallen that this would even be a subject - but with Trump nothing is too low.
PaulS 05-05-2020, 12:34 PM As to your question, what I know for a fact was in his vindictive and obnoxious way, Trump was making fin of a guy who criticized him. He made fun of him in a way that he had made fun of another guy in the past suggesting that his choice of mockery wasn't necessarily related to this guy's condition. If you read Ann Coulters's article, instead of just the sentence that suited your needs, you'd see she was making the same argument I'm making, but she used hateful language to do so. and if you read any other articles you would see that all say Trump's movement are totally different from what he did w/the reporter and with the general. There are even videos online showing the differences. Hateful language that you embraced.I embrace it only to show what a vile low person he his and that the Trumplicans will do anything to support him regardless of how low he goes.
I answered your question. Any chance you can show me the same courtesy? using your logic, can I assume it's OK if I use the n-word while making fun of myself? If not, please explain the difference between that, and your defense of what Obama did.Feel free to make that argument. Most people would disagree.
It must be exhausting to have to get so creative, vague, and evasive, instead of simply answering questions and - god forbid - admitting someone else is right once in awhile.
You're the one who is wrong. You should have just stuck with he says vile things but I like his policies.

"Feel free to make that argument. Most people would disagree"
It was your argument. Not mine
Now you're saying it wasn't you, who said that it was OK to use hate speech as long as you are poking fun at yourself. You didn't say that, to defend Obama's making fun of Special Olympians?
"it was a self-deprecating comment "
"As you were told, it was a self deprecating comment - meaning he was attempting to make a joke at his own expense"
Those are your posts, not mine. So using your argument, is it acceptable for me to use the n-word as part of a self-deprecating argument?
You backed yourself into a corner from which there is no escape.

Paul, the reporter was not capable of making those movements. His disability prevented him from even being capable of making those movements. The reporter did not make those movements. It was physically impossible to make those movements that Trump did. There is no video showing the reporter making those movements. The only similarity of Trump's movements to those of the reporter were a mini-second freeze of Trump's moves at that exact point where his hand was in the position that the Reporter's hand is pretty much frozen by his disability. All the gyrations that Trump made were not possible for the reporter to do.
Those "spastic" movements that Trump made were also similarly made by him when talking about Ted Cruze and a military general. He was not imitating the reporter, not making fun or "mocking" him for imitating movements the reporter was not even capable of making.

As you say, we have fallen this low to even making this a subject. We have been led this low by politically and emotionally motivated false representation of what happened. You have been duped by fake news.

I didn't back myself into any corner bc most people don't view talking about special Olympics and bowling and using the N word and dancing as the same. Next time you are out to eat say you bowl like a special olympian and then say you dance like a N. Do you think you will get the same reaction?

You have been duped, not me. If you believe that Trump just happened coincidentally made those movements while discussing that reporter, you're so filled with hate that you can't emotionally think straight.

You say that they weren't the "same" movements as those he used in other instances. If you mean exactly the same, of course, it would not be possible to make exactly the same movement years apart, without rehearsal. But they were very similar. Especially with those he made when talking about Ted Cruz.
But if you're going to go the route of they're not the same, then that would apply to showing the reporter making exactly the same movements. Can you do that? Show where the reporter made exactly those same movements. I don't believe his disability would make its possible to even come close to making the same movements Trump made, not to mention exactly the same. Did the reporter make those movements? Why are you assuming that he made those movements that you claim Trump imitated?
Was Trump, "coincidentally" as you put it, mocking Cruz's movements or the General's? Was it a "coincidence" that the movements were all similar to each other? Or was Trump mocking, not physical movements, but a generic physical representation of frustrated inability to explain some contradiction--as in the reporter's attempt to cover for what he had previously reported.

No #^&#^&#^&#^&. Takes all the fun out of political discussion. We used to have some good on the rails discussion back in the day....
That's why I am :hidin:

"talking about special Olympics "
And in what way did he "talk about" Special Olympics? Did he talk about what a great organization it is? Did he talk about how capable the athletes are? Or did he make fun of the limitations that accompany their disability?
You're right, making fun of blacks and making fun of Special Olympians isn't the same. What Obama did is worse, because skin color isn't a disability.
PaulS 05-05-2020, 03:34 PM Try that with your friends at dinner and see the reaction.
