Just got back from a week+ up in New Hampshire. Caught several small and largemouth bass at night with topwater plugs.

My son got this one from the front of the kayak on the second to last day. Didn't weigh it but pretty close to 20". 2 days shy of his 8th birthday.

I’m sure that put a smile on his face.

Nothing better than watching your son catch fish! Nice fish young man, and it only gets better as they grow up and catch bigger and better fish. My son broke his personal best Striped Bass this year (his previous was caught on Niko's boat) and I was not there to see it. I was bummed but happy for him, it was right around the 50# mark.

Miss my days on the boat with my boys, nothing beats sharing your passion with your boys or girls.

Thanks guys. Congrats to your son on a new PB, Hooked!

This one didn't jump at all and we were in less than 5' of water. I actually though he had a nice chain pickerel, then it surfaced at the boat and ran a couple more times. He handled it well for a boy his age.

I wish we had weighed it. I looked up some charts and most say 5 lbs starts around 20" for Largemouth. I thought it was less than 4 but maybe close to 4. The charts also say it was likely 12 years old or more, but age/size varies a lot based on food and up in NH they grow slow with the winters. Maybe it was even older.

He was right to let it go after having lived that long.

Here's my Dad with his biggest just about 50 years ago, 24" and 6 lbs. Caught in the same New Hampshire lake we've been fishing since the 60's.
