Just saying...

If you are going to play in the political forum, at least try to make a contribution to the fishing side while you are at it. I for one, would not want to have only SOL as the sole striper site to frequent....

Our political forum is tame compared to SOL. At least it was last time I wan on about 10 years ago. Might go there to liquidate some plugs at a premium :hee:

Got Stripers

Stripers I sort of remember what they look like. Since the weather forecast looked iffy for my original RI plan and since the yak and gear was loaded, I put into plymouth early am. Bait everywhere, flat calm, some overcast, good tide and as far as I can see which was considerable, not one bird working over any feed. Pedddled a lot of ground not one single mark or any indication of any stripers anywhere. Beam me back in time even 5 years ago to that date, those conditions and I’d catch on probably every cast, which is why I don’t target stripers. Might be time to change the board name to Remember Striped-Bass.com.

Awe to have seen the peek of plenty, woe to now experience barren desert.

Wish I could have seen it during the real heyday in the 60s and early 70s; wasn’t up here back then. Almost no limits back then (which explains the original demise). Gonna be a while till things are right again.

Mike I have no real desire for bass, unless they are sea bass and I’m looking forward to tog now. I bet this year I’ve only caught a dozen stripers when fishing for sea bass in water that used to be full of schoolies most of the year.

Been fishing mostly from shore this year and have caught lots of small striped bass with some bluefish mixed in. No skunkings but some nights were only one or two small fish. Hardly worth the three or four hour effort.

I expect to catch larger fish in the coming weeks and will fish until the end of October. It's all C&R for me now anyway. Work and family issues have kept me shorebound, only a half dozen trips out in the boat that werent very productive. I still have time to take a shot a albies and bonito this month.

We were into some agressively feeding bluefish one dark night ..after a half dozen fish my lure broke off...next plug out of the bag was a beefy surface popper ....tieing it on i told my buddy"this plug has rattles and i shook it. Couple casts later it broke off on a big bluefish just as i tried to land it. Had to run back to my backpack for another lure and retie. Returning to fish my pal says "Bob...that fish has jumped out of the water ten times ..i could hear him shaking that rattle plug ...trying to get it loose."
"That was an expensive plug" I said

you have some better fish coming, it's been a great summer up our way, everything small to large splashing and playing in the summer sun exited somewhere between Tuesday night and Wednesday night... Wednesday I took my first skunking of the season, it was eerily quiet, only the occasional loud splash of a belly flopping sturgeon to remind me that there was actually some form of life there, pogies have been exiting the river for over a week, and I guess they took the bass with them. Now if only the Easterlies will die so I can get out on the beach.

the bait situation is great...just need some good numbers of hungry migrators......losing more lures and flies to bluefish this year than in past years

Finally got to fish last night. 26 little schoolies and called it quits. All on single hook leadhead. Tons of peanut bunker and white bait. Lots of golf this year...

We should just nuke the Political Fracas.

I pretty much wrecked it this year, anyway.

Locals only, yo. If it was the old days, I would have popped the hood on all the Crap fishermen’s cars, took off their carbs, and put a Trump for Prison 2020 sticker on the back of their cars, too.

We dislike non-striped bass fishermen, here.

Someone should have taken film, or at least the audio, of you and Manzi fishing together in the early years.... That would have been gold...

I would enjoy a good fishing thread....only without the political crap creeping into it.

He is pretty much still my own personal Jesus.

As of late he has taken to calling himself Striper Jesus, but that’s another story.
