But they’re making money and who would claim that profiting off a pandemic is bad, hmmm.... Capitalism, free market, individual liberty, unalienable rights, and more, were all pretty much fettered during the lockdowns. Some crony capitalists did well, a whole lot of smaller businesses were destroyed. scottw 10-09-2020, 02:36 AM yes, we don't fetter capitalism at all in America :rotf2: Got Stripers 10-09-2020, 06:06 AM yes, we don't fetter capitalism at all in America :rotf2: Sadly it became necessary due to this administration letting this virus get out of control and with death tolls on the way to 300,000 or fearless leader continues the messaging that exacerbated the problem from the beginning, even when he knew the facts up front. I bet our personal income tax % is higher than theirs maybe. but obama has a democrat congress to change that if he wanted to, and he didn’t. their rate is only lower than mine and yours, if their income comes from capital gains and not ordinary income. i don’t have a problem with capital gains tax rates being low enough to encourage people to invest. maybe you make it more progressive above certain amounts. for all the liberal whining on this, obama and the democrat congress never tried to fix it. there’s a reason why. What do you think the tax rate was on the upper crust when all these aging roads, bridges, railways and utilities were built? Just where do you think than next major slug of money should come from, just what segment of the American tax paying public do you think probably can easily survive a tax bump to finance long overdue infrastructure repairs? The wealthy will pony up, and pay a disproportionate share, as they always do. It won't be enough for the Reds, it never is. This incessant fixation of what 0.01% of the population is doing. Stop lying for them thats what they want fact - part of the trump tax cuts doubled the standard deduction, and greatly increased child tax credits. my liability went down by about 2500 a year. that’s not gristle to us. all you have is made up bullsh*t. you’re wrong. you’re demonstrably wrong about the tax cuts. working families with a couple of kids hit a big break. that’s just fact. it would be easier for you if the trump only helped the wealthy. that’s just not what happened. again, when you have to deny reality to defend your beliefs, you’re in a cult. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device It was a near impossible mission. Kim Il Sung has only power and potential nukes between him and a Ceausescu type execution. His people would kill him if they could. He ain't giving up his power. He ain't giving up his nukes, or at least the always imminent threat that he's about to have them. Trump had a reasonable idea which pertains to rational people who are willing to make deals that are win-win. But the current dictators in NK and China are in the precarious positions of losing everything including their lives if they give up their power and democratize their countries. China's dictators have no intention of making fair trade deals because they would require ceding too much power to their own people to create the competitive capitalistic workforce and businesses to generate the wealth to compete in the Western marketplace and the growing capitalism in the Pacific Rim. The CCP requires an actual slave labor force and coercive economic relations with struggling nations who are willing to be seduced into the Belt and Road initiative as well as the theft of Western tech intellectual property and the ability to sell cheaply to others while it puts barriers to those others from significantly penetrating the Chinese market. The old notion beginning with Nixon that Trading with China would eventually make it a Westernized capitalistic free market economy with democratized governments has proven a pipe dream because the CCP leaders have too much invested, including their lives, in holding dictatorial power over their people, and in becoming militarily strong enough to threaten anybody from toppling them. And they conveniently spread this strange virus into the rest of the world just as Trump was pushing their economy to the brink of destruction. Trump is no longer singing the praises of Xi.
