Whats a relationship?

The longer the relationship goes on, the sneakier you have to be. After 18 years of wedded bliss I have found if I say, "Hey, I think I'm going to do a little fishing this weekend," the response is usually a snide comment about being with the family, yardwork and chores that need to be done instead. However, if I get one of my friends to butter her up (at a party after a couple glasses of wine is a nice touch) and ask if I might be able to go with him, usually she she says, "Of course, I'm sure he'd love to." Another tact is to remember the things she has done off with her friends. For example I milked a couple charter trips and a tournament at the shore just because she went to see Bruce twice with her friends.
Be stealthy and conniving and you will go fishing young man!

Jimbo, those are true words of wisdom:D
I was thinking that I would either have to take her with me....:laughs: or... take her with me :smash:..
I keep telling her it will all be back to normal after thanksgiving. but then spring will roll around agian!

You gota put your foot down early in the relationship. Say you wanna fish two times a week...then you better stick to your guns, and this should be happening during the dating period. Make crystal clear before marriage that you are and always will be a fish head. If she really loves you she'll understand, if not, theres plenty fish in the sea!

If I want to fish I have to be there when she goes to sleep and be back when she wakes up - or close to it - unless she has work.

Course I always think I have time for one last cast - which means I get home bout noon and she gets all ticked off - to be expected - but
dammit those fish are laughing at me!!
I got to catch em and put em in their place!!
I know they are there!!! I just got a hit only a few more casts.. c'mon...
You like fresh fish! I just want to bring you the freshest fish... honest...

Lucky for me she works every other saturday. However, when the tides/weather/work/boyscouts dont all line up I get screwed out of fine fishing.

Boyscouts - Love those campouts but dammit they keep gettin in the way of my fishing!! In two weeks I will be up at NorwichVt.
Any good fishing near norwich? Maybe I can stop off for an hour on the way home Sunday... (remember one more cast...)

She thinks its personal. Heck no! I just wish she liked fishing.
If I could guarantee she would haul one in I think she would go for it. However My friggin luck has been shot since May!!

:af: :af: :af:Frigin MAY!!!:af: :af: :af:

My job is about to end. I been sending out resumes and answering responses like mad but still no solid job offers.
I go out there on the water and I don't think about anything else. just the fish. Time shoots by faster than poop through a goose.

Do I feel better after ranting and raving?
Nope! Now I need to go fishing even more!
Maybe a stop off at sportsauthority.

heh- tackle shops.

I go in and it is a time warp.
Just 10 minutes I say.
30-50 minutes later I might come out.
usually with 30 bucks of lures that don't catch me any fish!!

Did I mention skunk since May?
:af: :af: :af:Frigin Skunk!!!:af: :af: :af:

If it is a new shop I have to look at everything.
Every shelf, hook, or line. everthing.
I don't want to miss that perfect lure or other deal.

I am sure it was only 10 minutes.

Time sure goes by fast when fishing is involved.
unless it is waiting to go fishing.
That is when it stops.
Dead cold.

Dammit.

What Goose said, train them early, train them right or don't post in this forum. I took my one day a week since the get go and only work or weather have stopped me since. Once you have the one day, then sneaking in the additional night or morning becomes the problem, but a good problem.

...train them early...
We have been together for almost 16 years. Married for 10 (come Thanksgiving).

I was too busy with school and multiple jobs to make a point of my need to fish. Since we have been back in Scituate the water has been calling and calling and calling...

I now have a boat - a little boat - if it was bigger she could come out too and I would have a lot more places to fish.

She thinks I am obsessive. Bah! I will catch those fishes and eat them!!! that will show them all how obsesive I am!!!

You sound like me last year. This is the trick. They have this little thing called a micky. Now, on nights you want to fish start the evening with cooking your girlfreind an in-expensive dinner (nothing to fancy, you needs to save money for the micky) Offer her a glass of champagne (before dinner, so she's out as soon as possible) slip the micky in her drink. She'll be asleep before dessert. Let her think she's getting dessert, but save the money you would have spent on dessert for bait/plugs and future mickys. Tuck her in bed and go fishing. In the morning she won't even have known you left.

Slipping her a mickey wouldn't work for me because knowing my luck she'd want to entwine our arms to sip the champagne and I'd end up drinking out of my own glass, passing out before dessert, then waking up to a a livid spouse shouting at me that I fell asleep on purpose so I didn't have to have sex with her. Now Goose on the other hand is onto something. Maybe you someday to be married dinks out there should consider "The Pre-Nuptual Fishing Agreement". You may lose everything in a divorce later on, but while married you have the guarantee, signed by your spouse, that you get to go fishing weekly.
