I just broke out an abu-garcia ambassadeur 5000c from my closet. It used to be my fresh water bassin reel, but I was thinking about bringing it to the vineyard derby to use for albies and bones-will the drag hold up to the abuse these fish dole out? also-will this be a rusted piece of junk after a week?
thanx

Chris, It makes a great Flukin' reel spooled with 50lb braid!
As long as you rinse it like I assume you do to your other reels it wont rust up on you.
As far as using it for speed demons like bonito and albies I dont know as I have never tried my casting reels for them. The drag holds up nice to lobster pots and a strong current for sure! :D

I use 5500 Abu's on an 8' Loomis for Albies all the time - works great. Swing by M&Ds and pick up the extreme smoothies or regular smootie drags, it will make a big difference... Put 12# mono on and you're all set...
