Clammer 12-30-2020, 10:30 PM hq2 .good luck .remember to swap out your hooks for circles .<><
Do they have tubes with circles? Never actually had much trouble with fish taking a tube down, BTW.

I’m just trying for a happy medium
With the lack of rain this year all the trout were precooked, 80 degree water and not much of it

bloocrab 12-31-2020, 11:59 AM For my New Year resolution, I'm going to invest all my time and money into developing the perfect circle hook. I've already spoken to Owner hooks and they are very interested in my design. I will be shipping the first prototype to Mr. Nakamichi early 2021 for testing purposes. Once approved, it will go straight to marketing.
Although not needed, it is guaranteed to have the sharpest point on the market
As an added safety-measure, there are break-away sections built into both the shank and belly-bend of the hook
It has a proven 0.000003 % chance of Not permanently hurting any marine life
Constructed of a 2-part steel material guaranteed to begin oxidizing if left un-baited for a preset amount of time
Although I'll be forfeiting the rights once accepted by Owner, they are allowing me to "name" the hook, which was something I had requested. As I believe this IS the future of circle hooks, I wanted to leave a legacy that can be traced back to my family tree for years to come.
With all the respect that I have for the members of this board, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions that I could incorporate with my own thoughts for a name?
bloocrab 12-31-2020, 12:11 PM Happy New Year's Eve everyone.... :buds:

Don't think so Mike. I thought I read that Tube and worm are exempt.

Should be...
Gut hooked with a tube and worm , very unlikely me thinks..
Clammer 01-01-2021, 07:58 AM :huh:I don,t think anything is exempt once you put bait on it .just one of the flaws in the law .<.
piemma 01-02-2021, 01:54 PM I am correct Mike, at least as far as the Mass regs are concerned.
This requirement does not apply in the following circumstances: 1) when a recreational angler is fishing aboard a for-hire vessel on a for-hire trip; and 2) when a recreational angler is fishing with natural bait attached to an artificial lure that is trolled, jigged, or casted and retrieved (e.g., ‘tube and worm’).”
wdmso 01-02-2021, 03:52 PM love my circle hooks with eels 99% hook up rate
pogies takes a little more work maybe 75%
rphud 01-03-2021, 08:48 AM might be a little premature, but I am seriously leaning towards quitting my day job. Might have to wait until I finish up some contracts in the first quarter and find that 26 Regulator (already working on the truck to pull it with).

MAKAI 01-03-2021, 01:17 PM Had a day in early August slow trolling small macs and pogies on 6/0 in line circles. ( hooks in the nose )
My buddy and I got about 30 fish between 15-25 pounds. Even if a fish dropped the Mac it was shortly picked up again. All fish were corner or top lip hooked. No gut jobs. Just let the fish swim off and slowly come tight on the line. Works as advertised.

I don't know about RI, but pork rinds and tube & worm are exempt from circles in Mass
Circle Hooks and Striped Bass (322 CMR 6.07). Consistent with recent actions by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission, DMF is proposing to amend its existing circle hook rule for striped bass. This rule currently requires that recreational anglers use circle hooks when fishing with whole or cut natural baits for striped bass with exemptions for the for-hire fleet and any baits attached to an artificial lure that are to be trolled, cast, or vertically jigged.
The proposed amendments would further specify that if a striped bass is caught on any other type of hook other than a circle hooks, which is baited with natural bait, then the fish must be returned to the water immediately and without unnecessary injury.
Additionally, all but two of the existing exemptions will be rescinded, including the exemption for the for-hire fleet. The two remaining exemptions are for tube and worm fishing and the use of pork rinds. The proposed rule allows for pork rinds to be attached to artificial lures that are rigged with hooks other than circle hooks. It also allows tube and worm fishing to continue provided the lure consists of a minimum of 8” latex or rubber tubing with a single hook protruding from the end portion of the tubing where a bait may be attached; tubes may not be rigged with treble hooks.

I still have a couple wire set ups,,,, they hit it like a freight train.... my arm still hurts... LOL
piemma 02-09-2021, 07:06 AM There's a spot off the South side of Bonnet where I'd pull wire in 40 to 60 feet of water. Tube and worm was killer.
Yeah, that’s why I’m going back to T and W this year. Tried lots of stuff in recent years; sluggos, plugs etc. Only had some luck with a blue and yellow 5 inch Yo Zuri in the Westport river last year. Back to T and W everywhere else.
