Since I have off both of these days next week (4/13) and the week after (4/16) I plan to wet some lines in Rhody,, probably on one of the South County beaches. Anyne interested, give me a yell. Which day will depend on the weather, and it will more than likely be early morning, say 5 or so.

You chunking or throwing the bucktail? I'd advise for the bucktail...

Too early to commit and I probably won't have a day off - for certain for Friday the THRITEENTH as I have a meeting...

Steve I may be able to give it a shot on the 16th depending on tides and wind. But not too early in the day, I hear the fishing may be better in the afternoon when the cold water gets a chance to warm. 5A.M. seems a bit early. Or is that the time you will be leaving to head down there? I agree with John, bucktail jigs or small soft plastics anything white.

I tried bucktails today, nada. I can't remember what my bucktails weigh, they are 3/4 to 1.5 roundhead jigs. I can't remember their weight. Maybe tomorrow. <shrug>

No plans in stone yet, guys, will depend on the weather and, um, yeah, the tides. My plan is to try out some new gear I got this year, and will do a little of each, plugs, plastics, etc. Any fish that come along would just be a bonus. And I will throw out a chunk or two, ya never know.......

P.S. - Slipknot - the 5 AM thing might be a bit early, forgot about the time change. Like to be there at sun up, always found that to be the best time, though I've never gone this early in the spring before. My thinking was garden?....fishing?...garden?....fishing? Early morning would allow me to be back by midday, so I can do both. This winter stuff has put the garden behind by two to three weeks, so I gotta catch up!

Steve, Howzabout gardening in the morning and fishing the afternoon? The afternoon bite is far superior to the morning bite as the running local theory has most of the fish swinging out from the local ponds and rivers where they spend the nights and mornings, do a few laps of the nearby beaches and of course the wall - and head back in to the ponds and rivers. This is again, just a theory but the fish are most likely winter-over fish out looking for a meal and not fresh run fish. Although by that time, there should be fresh fish mixed in with the hold overs... By far the most productive rig at that time is the bucktail jig and bucktail teaser. The jig can be swapped with a soft plastic and jig head but plugs and bait aren't very relaible at this time of year...
