View Full Version : Weather Apps
What are guys using for weather apps these days?
I always found Wunderground to be spot on, but the last two years have been shaky, IMO.
Normally I’ll compare the Wunderground forecast with NOAA’s and they usually line up, but lately there seems to be a sharp contrast between the two. Sort of bizarre. It’s frustrating when you don’t live by the water anymore.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks
wdmso 08-10-2021, 08:13 AM not sure why there is such a vast difference in accuracy seeing I would guess they all are getting their Data from NOAA anyway I can only assume its because of how often its updated ?I use windy and NOAA sites mostly
JohnR 08-10-2021, 08:44 AM Wundergound, NOAA, Weather dot crap, mostly.

BINGO.
All these sites don’t have weather men or nice lookin weather girls making forecasts. They just interpret NOAA data
I use SailFlow and windy

Interesting. Never crossed my mind that these apps get their info from NOAA, but certainly makes sense.
I used to rely heavily on the hour to hour forecast that Wunderground provides. Found it very reliable until recently.
I’ll be interested to see if Wunderground updates their forecast for tonight as NOAA hasn’t budged on their’s.
Thanks for the other suggestions as well.

Guppy 08-10-2021, 02:14 PM SailFlow… plus
Higgie 08-10-2021, 05:40 PM Bart I think it has a lot to do with just the weather patterns we’re having. I follow Tim Kelly from necn on a few platforms then compare with noaa website not the app then use windy for winds and swells

Steve K 08-10-2021, 06:11 PM Weather underground used to give you the option to get the NWS vs their own forecast. I always chose NWS. Doesn’t seem to be an option anymore and I agree that their forecast is pretty bad now.

In The Surf 08-10-2021, 09:25 PM Rob I still check Maine Harbors . com but I don't get to water nearly enough myself to say how accurate it has been
t_man7 08-11-2021, 12:25 AM I also use Wunderground, but have found it to be shaky. DarkSky is pretty good.
RIROCKHOUND 08-11-2021, 05:07 AM BINGO.

Good theory. Wouldn’t surprise me.
I’m now sticking with NOAA.

Dave! Good to see you post here again. Hope all is well. I’ve only fished maybe 10 times total this year, but hoping to make up for it over the next month.
Thanks to everyone for the insight/suggestions
