This Sunday kicks off a furious, furious week of fishing for me. To start. taking my 15 year-old on a sharking/haddock trip Sunday out to Stellwagon, this is a good time of year to shark out there? Any reports?

What's the likelihood of catching a shark we can keep, is that pretty rare to get a mako or thresher? I'm looking forward to drifting in a chum slick, fishing for haddock while we wait for a bite

I don’t have any recent reports since I’m not fishing but working now

But. September is usually the best month to shark fish

More likely to catch an edible porbeagle than mako or thresher but the later are highly possible.

Have fun

thanks, we don’t have much experience offshore so we are really excited, what 15 year old boy doesn’t want to catch a shark. and we’re going with a top notch captain.

how good is porbeagle to eat?

i have always liked the boat in your signature pic, what kind of boat is that?

Haddock fishing has been real good recent years and in close.
Going to Stellwagen or east of it hasn’t been necessary though they are there also.
Last few trips the dogfish have been a pain in the ars.
Plenty of sharks around now.
We are allowed 1 cod per person right now.

That boat is a Nauset 249 commercial which became a coastal 24 then a fl Tripp 24 and now someone in Maine had the mold. Nice hull if it’s your style

Porbeagle shark is great eating comparable to mako and some prefer it to sword fish.

The hard part is if you get a good size one is making all the calls to unload all the meat Makes for s long day
