I know that many years ago I bought a needle from Habs, I don't believe I ever used it.

We're getting ready to finish our basement, so I promised the boss to clean out and better organize all my gear. I came across this lure. my recollection is that this is the color needle I bought from Habs.

The photos are bad, the lure is a brilliant black/purple. There's some kind of stamp on the bottom that I can't make out.

Anyone know if this is a Habs?

If so, if anyone here would use this lure, especially if they knew Habs and it would have some sentimental value, I'd be happy to send it to you. If it's a Habs, it should belong to someone who will use it and appreciate it. I'm getting back into boat fishing and don't have much need for this, if it's a Habs I'm guessing someone else will want it a lot more than I do.

That sure is one nice Habs needle.
The stamp you see on the bottom is actually the counter belly weight in the chin. The bondo does not correspond well with the wood expanding and contracting so it shows up as a dimple.
It looks like a body that Tattoo turned, at one point he was turning bodys for J.Habs who would then, seal, paint, etc.
If Mikey passes I’ll be more than happy to acquire it.
Happy holidays!

Spence, thanks for this. Tommy is a great kid and truly loves surf fishing. I sent him a bunch of books on the subject and other stuff.

My pleasure, I know he'd want it to go to someone who'd use it. Might be next week before i can get to post office, I'll let you know.

John, I had an absolutely incredible, incredible year fishing with my kids in 2021. Thanks to this site I discovered fisheries I didn't know about, and learned so much to give my kids experiences they would not have had otherwise. The least we can do is pay it forward a little.

Plus Craftys Drunken Blackfish Stew, the recipe I got here.

Just learning about Cohen Babcock here, and fishbucket, had so many great times with those guys.

Needlefish should be there this week. As it’s Christmas I put in something jointed made by Habs and this goofy guy with a big fish tattoo on his back. Don’t lose it!

Oo la la
THANK YOU JEFF

Hey I know that guy MIKE DAUPHIN!

I remember the story, John went into a shop (the name escapes me) and found a bunch of the old Murrats boxes, he went to Mike and they decided they’d reproduce the Murreel for the Hab~A~Tat series of plugs.

I believe it was an extra $10 or $15 for a box along with the plug when they were selling them at wintertime shows (RISSA?).
