This will be a double post as I posted it on another tread but I felt that maybe we all could share how we or how we can secure are boiats in the event the storm or other storms hit us. Here is what I do:
Well I got the cover for the boat out today and started to cover it up to keep the crap out of it!! I also tie the boat to the trailer and hook it to my truck the day of the storm. So altoghter truck and boat will way about 10,000 # and if we get a derict hit I will put the plug in and fill with water!! This will keep all grounded. Now all I have to look out for if falling trees?
There is not much else I cann do but pray!!

"....not much else I can do but pray!!"
That about sums it up.
I almost lost my 28 footer a few years ago when it broke off it's mooring in the North River in Scituate. That taught me to put chaffe guards on my mooring ropes. Cut right through at the cleat. Funny thing was, I just happened to be driving by the boat yard during the storm and was going to check on it. When I looked down from driving over the Rt. 3A bridge, I saw the boat heading for the marshes down stream. Owner of the yard took me out and we retrieved it just in the nick of time!:eek5: :hs:

double and oversize EVERYTHING

and there is no excuse for not having chafing gear even without the storm on a mooring... its just good practice... but BigBo learned his lesson right?

also the ground tackle should be checked periodically...

i do this for my father's moorings and friends periodically

its a big thing everyone should do with a mooring atleast once a year... esp. before a storm

Just strap it to the trailer and hook to his truck the day of the storm and it will be fine. I like to cover it to keep the crap from going in there

If it does hit us hard, I'm gonna pull it and leave it in the driveway.
I like the idea of covering to keep the crap out. But unless there are 100 mph winds, I think it will be fine strapped down.

Your right I am more worried about something hitting it (tree limb etc...) than it blowing away.

The marina was nuts yesterday, with people pulling boats already.

I also liketo park right up next to the house. This is were the trees are the least and if one did fall it would hit the house and cause a bridge so it won't hit the boat or at least not rt on the boat
