Any word if the house hanging over the bluff at ballston beach in Truro ended up in ocean from this storm. Been a point of discussion amongst my circle since they were showing it on the news before the storm.
Talkin to my old man yesterday we reminisced how back in the early 90's when I started fishin there regularly how there was a field with a volleyball court etc. between the house and the bluff and how much erosion has happened in that memorable time span. Crazy to think that a hundred years ago it was probably 10 houses back from the bluff . A crazy Shame

Time to build a hull under and float it away on the next big tide.

Depending on insurance if they even had any this was a named storm and deductibles only go up. If they even have enough land to re build. Sad

They already had it all setup to move the house last summer, but Conservation Commision held it up. The owners are pissed and rightly so.

Folks need to have a look at some books by Orrin Pilkey, a lifetime
expert on beach erosion. What's happening here is typical to what
is happening elsewhere. The situation will NOT improve with global
warming.

And... Boston news has video of the home being moved back to its new location further from edge.

Yeah, that’ll save it for a while, but the beach will catch up with it eventually. It always does.

Fished Ballston back in the 90s. The go to spot was down the beach to the left of the house with the volleyball court. Right in front of the big dune. I had one night when I was alone with a dozen live eels. I ran out of eels around false dawn and had more 40 pound bass than I could count. I did keep a 44 pounder.

These folks bought the lot next door for $2 mill+.They are trying to put the house on that lot. But,the zoning doesn't allow what they are trying to do.The existing house has an accessory building there now. These people have loads of dough and the lawyers are attempting to get wavers to the zoning.Oh! they've been battling with Truro for many years over properties they own in Truro. One on the bayside was a huge cluster **** for a long time.Next to the historic Hopper house.

MIL had a place in one of those golf course communities in Plymouth and I used to go down the stairs and walk the beach looking up at the houses with the nice views right at the edge of the sand cliffs, even without weather and surf those slides are in constant motion perpetually deteriorating stuff falling down...just a matter of time
