Anyway, John, who's making the call on if it's a go or not, and when?.....I figure by Thursday or so we should have a better idea....

Only ask cause I gotta plan for the chili, and if it's a no-go, I don't want chili for 30 sitting here...especially with the chance of power lose...the freezer is already packed with the over flow of garden tomatoes..........

Saturday, September the 20th: Look for a decrease in Swell energy from yesterday. Swell will be coming in from 175 degrees with 10 to 15 foot surf with 10 second periods.

Right now we are a go and will have a better idea mid-week. There is a good chance this thing will be a couple hundred + miles behind us by Sat 2PM - not sure what the wind will be but the bite might be good :)

Warning:..for those who haven't been out lately -

The swells were down right nasty this morning, felt like the ocean was dumping 10 gallons of water on me every 5 minutes...only 1 close call...2 waves came in back to back filling up all the crevices between the rocks...the next wave was a monster and made it in before the 2 previous ones got out.., filled up the area I was in and lifted me right off my feet...had to use the butt of the rod to lodge me in. I started before sun-up and didn't realize how large the surf was until I felt it. Try not to put your hood on all the way, you'll need that peripheral vision, they were coming in from all angles, it's still helpful in the dark..and don't waste your time either, if your fishing BIG white water, pick your casts, it doesn't make sense to cast on a wave and never be able to work your lure because it rode the wave all the way in before you had a chance to add action to it. If you've ever seen fish in the surf, more than likey you seen them working right after the wave broke (thats when the baitfish are disorientated and the Striper strikes) ,,,time your cast so that your working it right after the wave brakes....and lastly, if you have to wonder if your safe, your probably not...so be safe out there this week/end. Travel in pairs if possilbe -

Steve--pines bend---a lot. Hardwood trees are the ones to worry about. My cottage in Plymouth has some massive pines that survived every hurricane since we owned the place, from Carol to Bob.

The only problem with pines is if it rains too much, softens the ground and they get uprooted.

Um, yup, and I got one huge one down at the bottom of the drive that isn't too deeply rooted, and aside from that, already has a split in one of the main trunks......if it goes, it will probably rip up the driveway, crunch the walkway railing, and could reach the cars if I don't park them back far enough.....

Worst part is, it probably will miss the house.......not that I would want it to hit it, but if it's gonna go, it would be nice if it would just get close enough break a window.....and then the clean up would be covered by home-owners insurance.....;)

Pines may bend, but they are shallow rooted and that's the problem. Last big storm I had 4 [pines go down and not one hardwood; I'll trade you even up.

Blue spruce are the worst pine types. They topple over easily do to shallow roots
