don’t tell me the left doesn’t want this inflation to incentivize the switch, which it won’t do because we don’t have anywhere near the electricity.
View Full Version : Biden tweeted today that the upside of inflation is switch to green energy Jim in CT 06-20-2022, 06:12 PM don’t tell me the left doesn’t want this inflation to incentivize the switch, which it won’t do because we don’t have anywhere near the electricity. You’re outraged 24x7 the GOP is playing you Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device there’s very very little silver lining to what inflation is doing to people middle class and below. the average american family is spending an extra $400+ a month thanks to inflation. we have absolutely no infastructure to support a meaningful shift to electric cars. i keep asking you where that additional electricity is going to come from, i haven’t seen you respond. If you did, I’m sorry, but it sure looks like you’re dodging. We are facing blackouts currently, because we don’t have enough electricity to meet today’s demand. Where do we get tons of additional electricity? You ok with nuclear plants? that’s the obvious answer. In June nothing to see Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device when demand exceeds available supply, that’s not good. you dwell in the land of fantasy and ideology, not facts. I like electric cars. it we don’t have the infastructure yet. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Jim in CT 06-21-2022, 05:10 PM wayne, there’s talk of blackouts this summer, and the reason is that we can’t keep up with current demand. if we all had electric cars, doesn’t demand increase a lot? If we can’t meet today’s demand, how do we meet tomorrow’s ( higher) demand? https://www.cnet.com/google-amp/news/blackouts-could-be-coming-to-your-state-heres-how-to-prepare/ we need a lot more electricity, and electric cars need 350 miles of range and the ability to recharge in an hour. THEN they work for almost everyone. Today, they don’t work for many, many people. The F150 lightning you mentioned, has a range of 120 miles when towing ( a little more of you fork over another $10k for higher range). You don’t think that limits its practicality? Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device wdmso 06-21-2022, 05:26 PM Jim yes there’s talk and it because what I said Some troubling news as we inch towards summer - parts of the U.S. power grid face high risks of outages. A new grid reliability report shows that places in the Midwest, California and Texas may not have enough power as temperatures rise and residents crank up air conditioners. And the western drought is causing reduction in hydroelectric production And I tow my boat never over 120 mile so it would work for me. And I’ve said electric doesn’t work for everyone And infrastructure takes time . Thank goodness we got a infrastructure bill might not fix everything but it’s something Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Pete F. 06-21-2022, 05:30 PM So Jim’s claiming that electric automobiles won’t work, sort of like Texas - Who can’t figure out how to get water or power to work but they’re ready to secede. Nobody expects 100% of vehicles to be electric tomorrow, just more than today. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Pete F. 06-21-2022, 05:59 PM Google is easy For US drivers who cover about 37 miles per day on average, a charger that delivers 20-30 miles of range per hour charged is ideal (6.6-10 kW power delivery). Average daily miles are recharged within 2 hours and even a close-to-empty 100 kWh battery can be charged fully overnight. For the vast majority of homes, charging at those speeds will not require major electrical service upgrades to 400 amps. Tesla drivers don’t need to worry about forgetting to charge. In a pinch, there are Superchargers. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device Jim in CT 06-21-2022, 08:26 PM wdmso, can we agree that bidens tweet is jim there? you called me a liar, but it’s in there. Posted from my iPhone/Mobile device 1. It’s not a tweet 2. It was a response to a reporter saying “recession is inevitable” 3. Biden’s retort was: "My mother had an expression: out of everything lousy, something good will happen. We have a chance to make a fundamental turn toward renewable energy, electric vehicles, and across the board."
