View Full Version : only republicans misbehave?
Jim in CT 07-29-2022, 08:46 AM Democratic rep Lisa Sanchez ( from CA I think), okayed in the congressional baseball game. She got pulled for a punch runner, as she was trotting past the GOP dugout she gave them all the middle finger.
But everything is OK when democrats do it.
Pete and WDMSO, do her actions say anything about you? are you in any way responsible
for her? because you both spend a lot of time posting when unimportant republicans do bad things.

Pete F. 07-30-2022, 12:24 PM As Roger Stone prepared to stand trial in 2019, complaining he was under pressure from federal prosecutors to incriminate Donald Trump, a close ally of the president repeatedly assured Stone that “the boss” would likely grant him clemency if he were convicted, a recording shows.
At an event at a Trump property that October, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) predicted that Stone would be found guilty at his trial in Washington the following month but would not “do a day” in prison. Gaetz was apparently unaware they were being recorded by documentary filmmakers following Stone, who special counsel Robert S. Mueller III had charged with obstruction of a congressional investigation.
“The boss still has a very favorable view of you,” said Gaetz, stressing that the president had “said it directly.” He also said, “I don’t think the big guy can let you go down for this.”
Gaetz at one point told Stone he was working on getting him a pardon but was hesitant to say more backstage at the event, in which speakers were being filmed for online broadcast. “Since there are many, many recording devices around right now, I do not feel in a position to speak freely about the work I’ve already done on that subject,” Gaetz said.
The lawmaker also told Stone during their conversation that Stone was mentioned “a lot” in redacted portions of Mueller’s report, appearing to refer to portions that the Justice Department had shown to select members of Congress confidentially in a secure room. “They’re going to do you, because you’re not gonna have a defense,” Gaetz told Stone.
The 25-minute recording was captured by a microphone that Stone was wearing on his lapel for a Danish film crew, which was making a feature-length documentary on the veteran Republican operative. The filmmakers allowed Washington Post reporters to review their footage in advance of the release of their film, “A Storm Foretold,” which is expected later this year.
The recording gives a rare unguarded view of Trump confidants candidly discussing legal peril away from public eyes. Mueller’s report said it was possible that Trump had both lied to investigators about his contacts with Stone and was aware Stone might provide damaging testimony against him if he chose to cooperate with prosecutors.
Gaetz is a member of the House Judiciary Committee. At the time of the conversation, the committee was investigating whether Trump might have obstructed justice by floating possible pardons to Stone and other allies who were swept up in Mueller’s investigation of Russia’s interference in the 2016 election.

Here is what the front runner for the Rep. party has done in the past:
A New York judge’s ruling that President Donald Trump must pay $2 million to charity appears to be the final chapter in the saga of Trump’s troubled charitable foundation.
State Supreme Court Justice Saliann Scarpulla of Manhattan ruled on Thursday that Trump pay $2 million in damages to various nonprofit groups to settle allegations that he and his family used the Trump Foundation to further his political and business interests.
The Attorney General's Office and the Trump Foundation reached an agreement last year to dissolve the foundation and distribute its remaining $1.8 million in assets to a variety of charities, including the Army Relief Fund and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum.
and
A federal court approved a $25 million settlement on Tuesday with students who said they were duped by Donald Trump and his now-defunct Trump University, which promised to teach them the "secrets of success" in the real estate industry.

“In fact, you’re looking at a guy — I got 260,000 votes and I got more than both presidential candidates and I’m way down ballot,” Hayden said. “And that bothers me.”

Gowdy (R-S.C.) said the use of BleachBit, computer software whose website advertises that it can “prevent recovery” of files, is further proof that Clinton had something to hide in deleting personal emails from the private email system she used during her tenure as secretary of state.

Florida’s dark money playbook: How ‘ghost’ candidate scheme revealed secretive political tactics
The mailers featured a stock photo of a Black woman, promised a candidate free from the influence of special interests who would “change the politics in Tallahassee,” and emphasized her focus on social justice, climate change and campaign finance reform.
It was pure fiction.
Iannotti is a white woman who was already planning to move to Sweden. The mailers were designed by Republican strategists in Tallahassee.
The individuals are charged with the scheme to run "ghost" candidates in the state of Florida to benefit 3 Republican Senate candidates.
According to original reporting from the Orlando Sentinel, the purpose of the campaign was to use Iannoti to siphon votes away from Democrat Patricia Sigman to help State Sen. Jason Brodeur, a Republican, win the election. Brodeur won with 50% of the vote, but it is not clear that Iannoti’s candidacy helped Brodeur.
The Sentinel alleges the scheme in Seminole County is similar to one in South Florida, in which a “ghost candidate,” Alex Rodriguez, did succeed in siphoning votes away from the Democratic incumbent, Jose Rodriguez, and helped elect Republican challenger Ileana Garcia by 32 votes.

And this weekend Trump was at Bedminster kowtowing to his Saudi benefactors and spinning 9/11 conspiracy theories, Biden was authorizing the liquidation of Bin Laden's co-plotter.

PaulS 08-02-2022, 07:13 AM This would almost be funny if it wasn't so sad.
President Joe Biden announced that the U.S. killed top al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, who served as Osama bin Laden's No. 2 in the ongoing attacks on the United States. But according to an NBC report from 2020, former President Donald Trump had an opportunity to do the same, but refused because he didn't recognize al-Zawahiri's name.
Reporting in early 2020, NBC News reported that intelligence officials briefed then-President Trump many times about the most worrisome terrorist threats, specifically mentioning al-Zawahri.
Trump would ultimately agree to take out ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi and Yemeni al Qaeda chief Qasim al-Rimi. But other of the significant names on the CIA's list were ignored.
Trump "was more interested in a young and less influential figure much farther down the list, according to two people familiar with the briefings, because he recognized the name," the report said at the time.
"He would say, 'I've never heard of any of these people. What about Hamza bin Laden?'" the former official told NBC.
A Pentagon official agreed, noting, "That was the only name he knew."

most people call it Lying with a dash of Stealing then calling it election integrity:btu:
Many Hungarian policies would rankle the American right. Abortion is legal in Hungary, to a point. The state greatly restricts private gun ownership. And the government offers health care to all.
Such distinctions make no difference to fans seeking inspiration from a strong leader

Ted and Victor are a pair, it’s right out in the open what the far right (more main stream republicans now) want.
Pete F. 08-06-2022, 08:38 AM CPAC admires Orban because
1. He bent the rules, changing his constitution and altering voting laws in order to remain in power, indefinitely
2. He destroyed the independent media; nothing remains but a few websites
3. He doesn't keep his homophobia, his anti-semitism or his racism a secret
4. He moves, walks and talks like a Ruritanian dictator from a movie
They would like to do and be all of these things too
He hates Ukraine for the same reasons Putin does: because Ukrainians actively fought their own illiberal autocrats.
Plus Putin has made a large, secretive investment in nuclear power in Hungary. Corruption is the secret fuel that powers Orban's regime.
I've been saying for months The Cult's model for America is Hungary and a leader like Orban. Their policies align w/Orban's. If they succeed they will never be out of power. They've been on this path for years - think culture wars, election fraud, fake news. It won't end w/Trump.

"And get back to me when Democrats try to overturn a national election."
I did get back to you, that's exactly what happened in 2016. But it's always OK when democrats do it! But again, just because everything is OK when the left does it, doesn't mean you're a blind partisan. No sir!
You are your own man, you can think for yourself, which is why no one has any idea how you'll come down on any issue. You're completely unpredictable.

You’re so disingenuous it’s sad
Plz keep the false equivalence crown you earned it.

please tell me how this is wrong, specifically…
in 2016, a small number of congressional
democrats used made up charges of cheating in some states, to challenge the outcome of Trumps win, in a desperate attempt to change the course of the election. It never had a chance, but they tried
Tell me specifically what i said, which is wrong.
WDMSO, your definition of “false equivalence” is “everything that makes me look like a hypocrite.”

wdmso: tell
me when democrats ever tried to steal a national election.
jim: according to factual history and this politico article, democrats in the house tried to do exactly that in 2016z
GS; that’s what about ism, because democrats didn’t write it down. ( it can’t be an attempt to steal an election unless it’s written down, everybody knows that.)
Pete F. 08-06-2022, 05:58 PM Jim’s not a cult member, because a poll said…..
A Republican candidate for congress says that if he gets elected, he'll file a bill to "Remove #^&#^&#^&#^& Cheney's name from all Federal buildings" due to his criticism of Trump
But remember, they're for "Free speech" and against "Cancel culture." Oh, And they're not a cult. Not at all

The rules were followed and nothing happened, to use one of your classics; am I going to slow for you?
wdmso 08-06-2022, 06:02 PM Seeing you don’t follow history
For an objection to be considered, it must be submitted in writing and signed by a member of both the House and Senate. Because no senators signed onto the objections made by House Democrats in 2017,
Move to 2030
According to Forbes, "Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) signed an objection to Arizona's electoral votes for Biden"
Even though Republicans were able to get two objections formally considered in 2021
Yep their the same
I love how you refuse to see the before. Claim the during is the same then go back to ignore the after and the current
Not to mention false electors
Please stop cherry picking what happened in 2020 and look at the the totality of Republicans efforts to keep Trump in power . Compared to 2016

Yet another of the master of false equivalence’s greatest hits
Trumplicans in 2020 and 2021 allegedly committed crimes to overturn an election.
Jim, what crimes are you claiming the Democrats committed in 2016?

None. You didn't ask me to point out where democrats committed crimes, you asked me to point out where they tried to overturn an election. That's exactly what i pointed out.
Here's your post, an exact quote...
'get back to me when Democrats try to overturn a national election"
You didn't ask about crimes. Are you so slow, that you forget your own posts in ten minutes?

I never said there were no differences, there were many differences. But both were cases of the losing side, unsuccessfully attempting to overturn a national election they lost.

Well,

You’re wrong
Wayne said that
I asked “Yet another of the master of false equivalence’s greatest hits

Jim, what crimes are you claiming the Democrats committed in 2016?”
You know there’s zero equivalence between the two, but your master wouldn’t like that.
Might make you a RINO
DeSantis would have you and your employer sanctioned

Pete F. 08-07-2022, 12:23 AM Well the Republicans have big plans
Marjorie Taylor Greene: “The old Republican Party is over. America First is now the only way and the Trump Republican Party is going to be the party that wins.”
She’s been the GOP spokesperson and de facto gopleader for some time.
At least she is laying it out plain and clear: White Supremacy & Nationalism, while using Christian language, are the fundamental ideologies of the GOP.

scottw 08-07-2022, 05:22 AM the crazy leftists really have themselves worked up into a lather....seem determined to convince each other via cut and paste that what they believe....... is actually true
wdmso 08-07-2022, 08:14 AM Republicans have long feuded with the mainstream media. Now many are shutting them out
Donald Trump, who infamously called the press "the enemy of the people."
Both are cut and pasted so using your logic they are not true statements or actually happening?
Scott stop being lazy . And actually provide a counter arguments .
The every things a hoax or lie mantra is old already

Jim there was no attempt .or coordinated effort by democrats to stop or stall the certification of the election or the peaceful Transition of power
The rules allow for an objection that requires 2 signatures
Republicans got 2 signatures on 2 objections thus causing a delay on the vote knowing Trumps plan and they knew about the fake electors hoping Pence would cave .
That’s the difference between 2016 and 2020
2020 was a coordinated conspiracy to overturn the national election to keep Trump in power the objections were part of the plan
2016 objectors were sore losers with no support or coordination from the sitting administration
