Happy holidays all!

I've used the search bar for reel maintenance and there were some good topics. I have too many reels to send out for professional care (and the oldest reel is at least 20 years old and still kicking!) but not too much info on materials to use for a DIY.

What do you guys prefer to use for a full cleaning? Too many reel kits out there that I'm sure I can make for myself cheaper and better.

Preferences as far as brushes for debris, specific grease, lube, etc.? I know I probably have most materials from my father laying around that I could use.

The reels are all "budget" Penn reels so I'm not concerned about a warranty or anything.

Easy to clean by hand with common stuff you have around. I have 30 year old 704s, 710s that I have always cleaned. Never bought a cleaning kit for them.

I like this stuff, wash the parts, let dry, fresh grease…
Put used cleaner in a bottle and reuse , keep covered, evaporates fast…

What grease and degreaser do you guys recommend?

I saw someone use shampoo as a solvent!

Simple green is a pretty good degreaser ; )
